I really liked Madrid. The Prado was a dream. I wish I had another week. Public transit was pretty simple. Many people seem to be taking the side trip to Segovia and Toledo and I kind of wished I had done that too. I'd visit again in a moment!

We were in Madrid for a month and loved it. We came back for one night to make the airport connection easier than trying to get here from Toledo. Even after a month there was still a lot of Madrid we didn't get to see. It is large and diverse.

Madrid was friendly, easy to get around, wonderful museums and parks. The food was great. For a large city the city center was not overwhelming and had lots to offer in food, shopping and attractions. The city was cleaner than I expected.

Don't visit in August. It's too hot. I know that's easier said than done especially if you're from the US and you have kids on summer vacation. Take the time to check out their supermarkets. Prices are affordable and people are friendly.

It feels like and looks like a capitol city. The cultural richness and diversity of the population made me feel I had my place and could belong. The tree lined streets, the architecture, the hills and cultural resources are world class!
"First this is a cute boutique hotel, which we never stay at but this was super clean and had a small refrigerator for our snacks. A really nice balcony overlooking the street activities. Yes, the check in is small, but it doesn't matter at all. They have a really nice roof top where we drank Sangria's. The view is awesome. The gentlemen behind the desk were great, quick check in, and throughout our stay they went far and beyond to help us with recommendations to restaurants and where to take the bus and which area was best to pick up taxi. Eduardo and Alberto were great into making our stay so memorable, and there were a few more that I didn't get their names. Only one elderly man at night irritated my husband. Where in our 60s. If I ever travel to Madrid again this is the hotel. The location is perfect; near everything I wanted almost everything walking distance. Across the street was a flamenco dance, our excursions were walking distance to meet. Del sol 20 min walk. I had so much fun at this hotel, oh they do serve breakfast additional cost, but it was perfect for us."
"The stay was great! The staff were accommodating! Clean sheets and facilities
The only thing I can say is the elevators were poor quality.. only one elevator worked and it took forever to get to our rooms.
So they definitely need to see about that.
