loved our stay!
smooth check in. loved the room ambience and comfort (both room and bathroom). awesome staff! nice breakfast. only suggestion is that the flat plates wouldn't be used for eggs. use large bowls instead. several people had hard time picking up the scrambled eggs as there wasn't a "wall" to collect the scrambled egg pieces using a single spoon - otherwise, they get spilled over the plate. I had to end up using my fingers to pick up. yeah, the flat plates look pretty, but most definitely not practical.

Awesome Hotel and amazing value
Hotel 1899 was such a pleasant surprise after a long flight from the US. My wife and I absolutely loved this hotel. The staff was friendly, everything was modern and updated. The free tea service was awesome and we couldn't believe the value relative to what else is out there in Tokyo. We will definitely go back to Hotel 1899 next time we come back to Tokyo.

New hotel, uncomfortable beds
This hotel is a little far from the main streets in a quieter area, the staff were very friendly, spoke great English, were helpful at all times. The breakfast included was small and light but still did the job. Everything was new, clean and nice, you could tell the place was recently built. I did request a later checkout time and they charged me $65/hour which I think is a bit exorbitant, that's basically 50% of the price of the actual room rate. The hotel is also quite a walk from any subway lines, at least 10 - 15 minutes. The beds in this room are also very hard and the pillows uncomfortable, this was my biggest issue.
