Art-filled suites above Meguro’s calm

Hotel Gajoen Tokyo plays out like a living gallery, with about 2,500 works of pre-war Japanese art and crafts setting a richly layered mood. The calm counterpoint comes in its all-suite accommodations, designed with a tea-room simplicity that feels deliberately quiet. It is also home to the preserved Hyakudan Kaidan, a 99-step wooden monument connecting seven themed rooms from the Showa era.

Wonderdul japanese hotel, we loved visiting the old part and its miniature exhibit. We stayed in their japanese style room, they are great for a family of 4, spacious, nice bedding and bathroom. The only issue is door heights, a bit small if you are 6ft or taller :)

My wife and I visit Japan at least once a year -- and Hotel Gajoen is our new favorite hotel. Large rooms, comfortable beds, short walk to Meguro station (subway and Yamanote line), beautiful restored historical artwork throughout the property (take the art tour during your stay), and fantastic onsite dining. The staff were also very friendly and helpful.
