The Barcelona doesn’t have ventilation at all, no extractor or a window, the windows are low qualities so you hear everything that’s happening outside. Our room was on the lower floor and we had a cleaning staff room near and the noise was terrible at night and at 7 am; the beach is nice, good breakfast

10/10 Exceptional

Place was clean with a friendly staff. The room was spacious and had a beautiful view of the lagoon. My wife loved the rain shower head right on the center of the spacious shower room. The location was great easy access to all fine dining and the beach had zero seaweed. Also, loved the daily free breakfast that had so many food options. We will definitely come back to this hotel.

The hotel was average. The initial check in guy was terrible sent us to a room with no air conditioning and hot water took at least 30 minutes of running before it got hot. A second check in person doing what we saw her the next morning help us with a great functioning room

Our stay was very nice! Only thing is that AC cannot be adjusted (and it was very cold in the room!) however, that would be great for summer stays. They did not provide slippers (much needed with the cold floor) and they also did not have conditioner not even when requested. Parking was free and felt safe. The room with beach view was amazing!

Staying at NYX was a great experience. The staff was amazing!!! The room was wonferful and the location was ideal. We couldn't check in early, but other than that, the staff accommodated us and had quick responses when we needed something. The only down side was not being able to eat at Restaurant Chanti. Had to stay 3 nights in order to have this Restaurant and the taco place included in all inclusive. I would definitely stay agaun.

6/10 Good

Pros- small resort , close to mall, great beach and pool, staff are friendly and helpful, large comfortable rooms with refrigerated that’s stocked daily, quiet and relaxing. Cons- small resort, limited dining options-breakfast is the same everyday, lunch and dinner at the outdoor restaurant is not buffet style but sit down and order from a limited menu and brought to you, 2 other reservation restaurants were nice change but only get to use a few times. No real nightly entertainment other than karaoke and music so you’re in bed by 9 and worse thing about this resort is that it’s not a true all inclusive. At every meal you don’t know what’s included and what is extra so you’re always worried if you’re being charged for something. They do have a non inclusive option at the resort so there’s prices listed on everything from on food and drinks and you’re all inclusive excludes some drink and food options on the menus. I think that the management needs a refresher on what all inclusive means. This is our first and last time at NYX because of this stupidity. We’ve been to Cancun 10+ times and never stayed at a resort that was all inclusive, but wasn’t really all inclusive.
Douglas K, 7-night trip

2/10 Poor

Rude staff. Instead of making things better, they make excuses & make things worse. Pick & choose who gets to bring in food.
Jennifer, 4-night trip

10/10 Exceptional

I don’t quite understand why people complain about the water, the rooms… I had one of the best services ever. Front desk was amazing, always going the extra mile for help! Greeters were amazing, I cannot really say anything bad because being all inclusive with a premium upgrade having one of the best views of the 5th floor with the ocean upfront, with the bartenders serving you great drinks, I mean, I was so happy so relaxed, so entertained, that I only have to say, this hotel had the best deal. People complain about the water, my god, it’s F-ing 85-91F degrees, what do u want Hot water for? Moldy rooms? Nothing, the room itself is very comfy, spacious, nice view, the balcony is great too, and I just have to have the windows open to smell the breeze, and I left the windows open because waking up with such sound in breeze, it’s just paradise. The food in the restaurants is great too. Get the all inclusive if you trying to spend some time inside the hotel, it’s worth it. The tours literally take you off the hotel from 7am til 5pm or 7pm… if you go for few days don’t get the all inclusive, but upgrade your room. I’ll be back in November :)

The overall property condition is “tired” racing headlong to “seedy”. The room decor has a definite ‘50s feel. The auto repair shop floor mats masquerading as carpet along with the damaged woodwork lend a definite “ghetto chic” vibe . Art lovers will appreciate the sun shining thru the holes in the blackout curtains which give the room the feel of being in a Jackson Pollack painting. Note: this hotel is listed under “all inclusive on the Orbitz & Expedia websites. However upon checking in we were told the all inclusive plan included breakfast only. On site Italian restaurant was only fair to poor, and they had no idea what garlic bread was. Really? For the intrepid traveler who would still consider this hotel, you will surely be sharing your room with bugs that look like grasshoppers on steroids…every bit of 6-7 inches in length. The one bright spot was the staff. Those who did not actively avoid interaction were quite friendly and very willing to be helpful. Still, with all the choices available, my advice is there are many better choices in the same price range.

Es un hotel muy recomendable!. Tuvimos una excelente estancia y disfrutamos mucho del desayuno buffet y del restaurante Tacos Villanos.

4/10 Fair

Not sure if it was a mistake on Expedia or the hotel, I thought I booked an all inclusive turned out it was breakfast only and neither did the hotel or Expedia tried to help resolve the issue. No one showed us around the property or told us where things were other than our room. Staff wasn’t helpful. The bathroom had a bad smell. Breakfast food was good and plenty of options. I wouldn’t recommend eating his hotel. Very poor customer service.

Property was very clean. Rooms were really big and clean. AC was a plus! The pool was nice and warm, it was over crowded at times. Limited spaces for beach chairs. But there was plenty of beach chair by the beach. Deck restaurant was really good. Chianti restaurant was good as well, I didn’t enjoyed the first meal I ordered and I was able to switch for a different meal which was a plus. Staff was friendly. I would def come back again.
Monique, 4-night trip

8/10 Very good

My experience at NYX was great. The staff are accommodating and friendly. I was delighted that majority of them spoke English. The beach was beautiful and well maintained. The room was clean and extremely comfortable. There are options for dining if you choose to stay within the hotel full time. But I love to go exploring to try different restaurants and dining spots to get a better understanding of the food culture of a different country. The one aspect that made this hotel stand out for me was the option of not choosing the "all inclusive" but still having the flexibility of dining on premises as needed. The breakfast buffet is awesome! It's included for all guests whether or not you choose the "all inclusive" option. Even though I'm not a breakfast person...this was always a delight every morning. This hotel is conveniently located on the shuttle route so it was very easy to go exploring all across the hotel zone. The downsides for me - and the reason I deducted a star - the sales staff specifically felt a bit too pushy. They were constantly trying to sell some sort of membership package. Also, if you're not comfortable with stairs, this hotel will be a challenge. There are stairs and ramps all over the property. The elevator is limited. Be aware of these beforehand and your stay at NYX will be a good one.

We arrived after having to get our own transportation, which we had pre-arranged and the hotel lost. When they let me know what room I had, they mentioned there was no window(!) So of course I was charged extra to get a room with a window. Then there was the part about my booking about my reservation not being all-inclusive. Which most of the staff made me uncomfortable about. The hotel is one of the originals, so it's a bit out dated. All in all this was an average stay if not for the beautiful ocean that made up for it. I would not recommend this hotel. And I feel they should let travelers know about rooms without a window. That might be important to someone.
Luis, 4-night trip

2/10 Poor

Because I booked on Expedia and got a great rate, the hotel didn't give me the all inclusive (only breakfast) despite me asking for it. The hotel wanted me to pay an extra 75 dollars a night. They stuck me in between the basement and the pool with loud music and construction blaring through the room from 10am until about 1130 pm. Because I had a yellow wristband and not blue, they wanted to charge 5 dollars for a coke and 7$ for a hot dog. So I just walked across the street and grabbed a hot dog and a two liter for 3 dollars at the circle K. Breakfast was generally leftovers from the restaurants from the night before, and they did have fresh eggs. That being said, it was a pretty lackluster hotel. If I was a drinker, I probably would have paid the extra 75, but I could easily find great food outside the hotel for less. Cancun is beautiful and safe. There is no ice machine, you must get a cup at a time at the bar. Room was musty, but the maid was very nice and accommodating (unlike the rude staff at the concierge). In June I stayed at the Canopy by Hilton. Much better deal and accommodating. If you pay the extra money that they want, perhaps you get treated better, but I certainly know that I'm not alone. I wish I could post the pictures of what I'm talking about. I have pictures of the gap in the upper and lower part of my door (contributing to the noise) as well as the bugs all over the room. Hard pass.
