Welcome at reception very friendly and staff pointed me towards a car park around the corner where I could leave the car for 2 days (£30 incidentally, so comparable with public car park rates). Room/bed comfortable, shower excellent. Breakfast menu varied and ample, and my wife's GF needs met. The location could not be better, with easy walking distance to all important Shakespeare sights, and literally opposite Shakespeare's schoolroom. Main purpose of our visit was to attend RSC production, and the theatre is only 5 minutes walk. A possible downside to this property for some is the lack of a lift...perhaps unsurprising in a 400-year old hotel, but we (both in our 70s) found 2 flights of stairs with luggage a bit of a struggle. That apart, this is a charming place to stay with bags of character and so central.

We have stayed at the Townhouse on a couple of previous occasions which should tell you everything about our opinion of it. Good breakfast options, freshly cooked, and a really nice touch of 20% off all other food if you are a guest. Great location in the middle of Stratford, although you do have to be careful of all the parking restrictions if you are travelling by car. Its an old building with lots of character. One disappointment - it says the bar is open until 22.30 and we couldn't get a draught pint of beer at 22.15! This isn't acceptable at these prices. Overall, though, another lovely experience at The Townhouse

Everything was clean and the staff were very friendly. However, the hotel was in need of decorating, particularly the carpets on the stairs. Very central and convenient for shops and culture.

The room was a bit shabby, e.g. Dusty, wallpaper peeling and rusty bathroom handles. Also, it is a very old building, so if you're on the ground floor like we were, be prepared to hear upstairs guests creaking about every time they use the bathroom in the night. The bed was comfortable and staff were very nice, but limited breakfast - not very vegetarian or vegan friendly. Overall was nice to stay at for one night.

Lovely few days here while visiting for a conference, bar had loads of choice, tapas meal was lovely and breakfast was great. Room and bed was comfortable. Highlight was the staff... From beginning to end they couldn't do enough and were excellent hosts. We'll be back!

Perfect location, lovely spacious room with lots of character and the staff were so delightful. The breakfast was delicious and generous and the evening meal was one of the best we had in Stratford. My only complaint was the door of my room was stiff and had a really quirky lock. It was very difficult to open. Also stairs need new carpet.

The room at this location was stunning, fully authentic of the 17th century with a modern day feeling. All the staff we engaged with were police and welcoming and made us feel comfortable. It was our first time visiting Stratford for our 10th anniversary and it was a time well spent.
