The Alma is an immaculately maintained, gorgeous Victorian Era pub and rooms. Everything was perfect from the food to the incredibly cozy bed to the decor. I can’t imagine a better place to spend our first night in England.

We had a perfect stay at the Alma! The staff were so helpful and really were the highlight of our stay. Our room was beautiful and in the middle of the heatwave was a perfect temperature. Breakfast was freshly cooked to order with a brilliant selection and we had dinner one evening and it was fab! This is such a great base for visiting London - was well connected by bus and train. Will Definitley be going back!

Couple for USA Vacation

We had a great time! Perfect experience if you want a pub feel, but still a lovely room and quiet stay. They have an adorable pub dog, tasty breakfast, and lots of attention to detail. Everyone was so kind.

We made one request prior to check-in, as we had never stayed at a Pub before. As it was the World Cup, with team England in it, I had some concern that it might be noisy all night. Nothing could have been further from the truth. They were in the pub until all hours, but our room might have been in an isolated convent it was so quiet. One passed through a series of nearly air-tight doors along a corridor, and it became quiter and quiter. So it was the best of both worlds: have a great time in the pub watching footie and drinking beer, then retire to better than library quiet for blissful sleep on comfy beds. Also the train line is right across the street, so it is very convenient. Now, as we are from the US, using the train system was a bit novel at first, but it works well. When you get here, buy an Oyster card. We got ours at an off-license, and you can re-load it at the automatic terminals at the station across from the pub.

The Alma is conveniently located by the train station. It’s literally steps away. It’s in a great area with dining and shops in walking distance. They have a lively pub and quaint restaurant on site. The rooms are comfortable with space to stretch out after a long travel day.
