The papaya play project property is beautiful, the rooms are damp and moldy and over run with mosquitos, I had to switch rooms because it was raining in the first one, the need hepa filters and better ac and to rethink some of the comfort of the design features, like the edges of the stone bed. I wanted to stay at this property because of how beautiful it was but couldn’t breathe and ended up cutting my stay short. The the pillows were damp, and there’s no bathroom separation so the moisture only worsened. I tried to open the door for air but the mosquitos where soo bad, they have mosquitos oil in the room and candles that you cannot light because the matches were also wet. There is no phone and they have an app but the internet is really bad which made me feel unsafe if something happened.this was my first vacay in a while and this ruined it.
This place is a nightmare. Bad vibes, rude unhelpful people working there including the manager Paloma. Construction at 5am, hammers and banging in my ear and nobody cares. Room service doesn’t exist, I asked ten times for a night light and nobody brought one. My friend and I got food poisoned by the Saturday night dinner. And I got bed bugs!!!! Do not stay there!!! We switched hotels and couldn’t be happier!
This Hotel is Unique! The place is beautiful and the restaurant is right in front of the beach with the best view you can have, the service the best I ever had in my entire life, the food was delicious from the breakfast to the dinner! We will definitely go back again.
We stayed at Papaya for my friends 30th birthday.Prior to arriving someone messaged me on whatsapp and asked if we needed anything to let them know. At that point we should have asked for the rooms to be together bc we were 5 min walk away from eachother.Upon arrival the property looks amazing.we rented a car and drove from Cancun airport. It was a straight shot and we felt very safe driving. They offer free parking inside the hotel so you do not have to leave your car outside in the street. The property feels safe as they only let guests in and out of the property. The whole staff is friendly and welcoming from the reception to waiters.Everyone was very nice and great. My only complain is the disconnect upon arrival. They did give us some information but not all.We were never aware we had to make a reservation for a daybed- and they have so many available. They were literally empty. We did not use the pool because the water was freezing. The beach and views were insanely beautiful! The rooms have no phones so they ask you to download the app and if you need anything such as ice or an iron you would message them on whatsapp and they will reply there. They were usually very fast on their responses. The casitas and the concept of this hotel is cool, but I feel like for the price we paid we needed more.We had no full body mirror and no outlet in the bathroom. The lighting is bad in room. The food at restaurant was delicious. They overcharged us $583 instead of $58 but fixed it.great vibes.
This is a beautiful property, I loved staying here the beach is stunning and it’s in a great location. I would recommend this place and I would return again.
My stay at papaya was a catastrophe, from bad service, unwelcoming staff to no functioning AC in my room during entire stay. I wouldn’t recommend anyone to go there. So many other beautiful hotels on the strip with outstanding service.
It is an extremely beautiful property. Breathtaking.
Dinner time food is horrible lunch is average breakfast is good. We hurt ourselves falling on ramp outside of our rooms due to being wet and not having any antiskid as they do not use stairs. Air conditioning was not working in room waited two hours for a new room and then in that room when it rained the walls were starting to stain peel and humidity went through the roof. Amenities are not clean It goes on and on the list however one thing that is exceptional is that the people that work there in general Are very polite and very caring just working in a horrible environment with rules that are not Guest concentric Way overpriced for what you get the place needs a nature renovation/maintenance.
My husband and I stayed here on our honeymoon. Despite not so great weather, we thoroughly enjoyed our experience. The staff was amazing. So helpful and kind. Felt so safe because of the security on the property. The food was also amazing every meal (breakfast, lunch, and dinner). Perfect for someone that is health conscious or just loves eating local food and great produce. The fruit plates and juices were amazing at breakfast. The pool was beautiful, but no hot tub. They have awesome cabanas on the beach and recommend reserving in advance. Our room was amazing, but it’s just important to know you are at and eco resort. It’s not a standard high rise resort. You are in the jungle, and it’s humid. We had AC that worked great in our room, but leaked because of the humidity. Wasn’t a problem for us, as we just threw a towel underneath. The restaurant is also open air. It wasn’t a major problem though even with bad weather. There was plenty of space. They have an on-site DJ everyday in the restaurant/ beach club which just brings a super fun vibe. The beach was also wide open and gorgeous. We didn’t stay for the weekend but apparently the party scene there is wild on Saturday. 10/10 would go back! Love this place.
Unfortunately we did not have an enjoyable stay. We had raccoons and rats in our room and the staff didn’t seem to care. They forgot to mention that we had free breakfast and so we ended up paying for breakfast every morning. The service was incredibly slow. The only redeeming quality was our Butler on the last day of our stay named Oscar. He was the only one who went above and beyond for us. I was excited to stay here but it did not live up to my hopes.
