Andrew went over and beyond to make our stay as comfortable as poss. Nothing was too much trouble and I felt valued. Would definitely stay here again as so handy for central Bournemouth without the busyness of the town.

Affordable and well located hotel

You have a feeling of past glory in this hotel. Quite old building and decoration that would benefit from a refurbishment. Water pressure in the shower was temperamental. However, the bed was very comfortable, the room was clean, towels and coffee/tea are provided. Host was friendly and very helpful on each of our request and even upgraded our rooms from single to double without us asking for anything. The location is great, 2 mins from the beach, and 10mins walk from key areas. The place was very reasonably priced compared to anything else at the time for the area. We (2 ladies in their mid 50s) enjoyed our stay in this family business and would recommend this place to any person looking for an affordable option.

When we arrived at the hotel, the run down externals set the tone, some renovations internally has been done and were still underway. The room was tight with the wardrobe at the foot of the bed way to big for such a small room. The bedside drawers were on their last legs, very poorly assembled and wobbled if knocked. Bathroom hadn’t been touched in what looked like decades with the door sill screws no longer holding at one end. The bedding cover had stains that were obviously washed but none the less very visible when you walked into the room. The bed itself was comfortable though the pillows were not to our liking. No power outlets on either side of the bed, infact only one double socket visible in the whole room where tge kettle and TV were located.

2/10 Poor

The sink didn’t work, the beds were awful, no bar, restaurant or pool. The rooms where untidy! Definitely not worth the money I paid for the 3 rooms I had. Definitely wouldn’t recommend again.

Spacious room and friendly staff.

The stay was comfortable. The room was warm and clean The hotel is well situated and easy to locate The room had all the basis requirements. The hotel provided house keeping and the room was clean and fresh. The carpets were really old and stained. The shower was so slow it took 20 mins for a bath. A hand dryer, water bottles and a mixer in the wash basin would help.

Wonderful stay.

Excellent stay at this very friendly welcoming hotel. I have stayed at the Hinton Firs a number of times and am never disappointed. Rooms are very clean and comfortable. As a solo traveller i sometimes get upgraded and am very grateful for that. Location is great for beach and town centre. I would highly recommend a stay here. I look forward to my next stay in the summer, maybe sooner!

Needs total refurb

Old tired paper falling off walls. Looked like hotel was under refurbishment which is desperately needed. Rooms left lots to be desired beds uncomfortable. Used as a base to sleep so was ok.

I loved my stay there. I will be back. It is not "Fancy" but you know that you are giving your money to a family business and not a corporation.

Really Helpful

My train was delayed arriving near midnight. The staff stayed on to welcome me . I really felt the staff made great efforts to make me feel really comfortable. The bed was great. Walking distance from the station. One hundred metres to the beach . If I was being really pickey could do with a little make over . Thank you for your all your help at Hinton Firs

Did the job

Warm, dry, clean, fairly priced, good location. Did the job. Good for mates for a couple of nights, not sure I’d take the missus for a week however.

I recommend

Super friendly and helpful desk staff. Clean and tidy good-sized room. Good location, quiet street but 5 min drive from high street. I would stay here again when visiting Bournemouth.

Great value for money, short stay in Bournemouth

Fantastic value for money and very friendly staff. This hotel is very well-situated, just a short walk from Bournemouth train station, with the town centre and beaches very close too. The accommodation itself is dated, but has its own charm. The room was perfectly clean. The building sits on a quiet tree-lined avenue, which made for a very nice, peaceful setting. I’d book here again, and have paid 4/5 times more to stay in far worse hotels.

Does the job.

It was ok. It said there would be a hairdryer but I couldn’t find it. Room was a good size, big crack in the ceiling and there was pizza on the wall by the window. Dated but did the job. Location is brilliant.

Good value for money

We were given a triple room instead of a double room which was large and comfortable. Towels were new and fluffy. The receptionist was efficient and very helpful. Location is great and close to beach in good area

if we parked in hotel car park it waould have been very expensive
Neil, 1-night trip

8/10 Very good

Firstly, I would like to state that this review is only based upon my personal stay, cheapest double room in peak season (end of August 2021) in Bournemouth for the renowned annual air festival (largest UK air show) which was also accompanied by the 7's festival (The World's Largest Sport & Music Festival), recent unlocking of lockdown and club openings etc. In short, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. They were very accommodating and the gentlemen to looked after me was ever so catering. From arrival to checkout, it was swift and professional. He also took my phone call when i was out dining with a friend who left her phone on the roof of my car, he was quick to react and went searching. Also was very reasoning with a delayed checkout. The hotel amenities such as the swimming pool, sauna, restaurant or bar were not open which upon booking I was later emailed informing me, which is no surprise given the recent and still apparent pandemic and strain on the hospitality industry. The hotel is quite tired and could do with some pennies spent renovating however this was the ~cheapest room and you get what you pay for (other hotels were more than double)! My only gripe was the room given was not as per the initial photo on Expedia, the advertised what colourful, blue with large en-suite however upon looking to the next few pictures there was a photo of my room which was quite dull and picturesque absent. Again, got what I paid for and was not miss advertised. Tired but clean.

Oh dear, where do I start

This place is in dire need of updating. Unfortunately I didnt read the reviews before I went there. Stupid me. Stained carpets and water stained ceilings. No water pressure from the shower head and what water came out you couldn't control the temperature. Part of the ceiling has come down in what I believe was the dining area ( no food is served ). Just in very poor repair. Never ever again.
