It’s hiding in plain sight! Step through an unassuming doorway and through an iron gate straight off the street and there’s this lovely house standing proudly behind it. Some really thoughtful touches give a nod to its legal past and add to its character. We stayed in the room at the front, which was surprisingly quiet. The bed was really comfortable and the bathroom was absolutely beautiful. Would definitely stay here again, if only to try the Yorkshire burrito from the shop across the street again!

A lovely hotel but unfortunately no breakfast available. I asked the receptionist if she could store my hand luggage and i would collect it later, only to be told “no, but there are lots of local places available to pay for storage”. But they did store it the day before!!

This quirky hotel made a nice chance from the predictable uniformity of those I usually book. The location could not be faulted. The double shower was a unique touch, and the whole place had something of archaic splendour about it. There weren't really any amenities I was aware of on site but, being in the middle of a shopping street, there were plenty of breakfast/ dinner options very close by. And the staff that I interacted with were all very pleasant, even though my engagements with them were limited to leaving and collecting my room key. Thanks to all who made my stay successful.

It’s a lovely property but in need of maintenance. It is in the busy centre, but sits in the quietness of a courtyard. The staff are friendly and helpful. There is no restaurant. Breakfast is packed in a bag that you can take with you, so would forego if reduces price as plenty of really nice breakfast places in York, although not many seem to open before 8:30 or 9am.

The staff were friendly and helpful. The location was prefect. The photos online look much better than in person. The entryway courtyard was dirty and messy. The carpet in our room was stained, and the headboard and chair were cracked and need replacing. No air conditioning, only a fan provided, and we couldn’t open a window so there was no airflow. The bathroom was nice, though.
