Townhouse calm in Oxford’s core

Vanbrugh House Hotel brings a chic boutique mood to a historic townhouse, where creamy walls, bold prints, and modern pieces play against original fireplaces. Deep greys and creams keep the look polished, with subtle Oxford-themed touches throughout. Despite the central setting, it stays tranquil and intimate, a quiet reset between city days and late evenings.

Room was small but nice. Location is great. Bathroom facilities were very good - shower pressure, etc. TV never worked during our stay but that was minor for us. Very good value priced property.

10/10 Exceptional

We had an excellent 2-night stay when I was dropping my daughter off to Oxford U. Very comfortable beds, quiet and cozy. We did not eat at the hotel as there were so many options right outside. There was a small problem with the kettle and we got a new one replaced straight away. Extremely helpful staff! We would stay here again.

Location couldn’t have been better. Very central to all of Oxford, but remarkably quiet! If you are trying to adjust to the time zone, this is a great spot!!

Lovely room, beyond my expectation, and a perfect location in central Oxford. The staff was helpful and friendly too.

6/10 Good

Our room was dated and tired looking, and was an odd shape so was quite cramped. It didn’t much resemble the pictures on the booking site, which was disappointing. We also had a minor cleaning issue but that was quickly resolved. On the plus side, the hotel is in a perfect location, with shops, bars & restaurants on the doorstep.

The hotel is an older building that has been renovated and updated without losing its original charm. The staff are friendly and helpful and the room was clean and comfortable though like most Oxford buildings it is not air conditioned. The breakfast is very nice and we enjoyed our stay.
