Be aware
All was well until they had a electrical fire in the garage basement, not the hotels fault, but the actions after wards were disappointing. There didn’t seem to have a plan of evacuation, had to source our own hotel for that evening as we were unable to enter the hotel again, as no electricity. No refund given. There was no emergency lighting or staff to help. Yes the hotel is cheap to stay in but you’d expect them to have to follow some kind of fire escape plan? Hotel itself is basic, but we expected that for the price you pay, plenty of space to park your car if needed. It’s a old building so it does look a little grotty, room was comfortable and felt safe neighbourhood.

Very Good 8.0
Rude service, nice room
I was 100% paid for prior to my arrival and when I got there the manager told me I would need to pay a deposit of $50, which wouldn't have been an issue if I didn't have an email stating all fees and taxes had been paid and I didn't have to pay a thing upon check-in. I tried to show him but he refused to look at the email and when I told him I don't have the card I used to pay he told me is have to find another place or be out in the street if I couldn’t pay the deposit. He was quite rude and short but in his defense so was I. He started off with an attitude however which set me off. Anyway, I had to sit there for 10 minutes moving money around from my other account to pay what had already been paid and I did get the room, which was a deluxe room with a king bed. Everything else about my stay was normal and good. Some friends were staying in a room next door however, and they had some issues extending their stay in as well. They said reservations needed to be made online and that my friends couldn't pay cash, even though I had paid cash the day before to extend mine. There are no clear rules and it seems like it's up to the whim of whoever is working at the time and their mood to dictate hotel policies. On the whole though it's a standard motor inn in walking distance to a lot of good parts of the city. I would stay again however I would keep in mind that the staff is surly and can be rude.

Perfect
Perfect location: 1 street away from main strip with food only a 15-20min walk to fisherman wharf downhill so back is a little challenging if you Lyft only around $7 but the walk isn’t that bad. You can easily walk to Chinatown, financial district and union square so basically perfect location all around for all the main stuff. FREE parking they even said if we couldn’t find a spot they will make us one (never had an issue). Hotel was clean not glamorous by any means but room was clean no bug issues. Elevator was very old kinda neat but it did work

ok
I booked a room with a single bed. When I got there, I got upgraded to two bedrooms, and a partial-open bathroom was changed to a closed one. The hotel is pretty good in terms of how much I paid. The room is clean and the restroom is not dirty. The bed and pillows are comfy enough. However, once I slid myself under the blanket, I felt itchy. I was not sure whether it was bed bugs or anything, but I could not tolerate the pain and had to cover myself only with a comforter. The room itself is also not soundproof at all. I could hear footsteps as my neighbors walked pass my room. I stayed only one night, and that night was undisturbed by outside noise. It has a potential to be noisy though. The area is not quite safe, with some homeless people around, but this is somewhat normal for a typical area in San Francisco. In terms of location, there are muni (line 7,9 but not so sure) stations just one or two blocks away. And the hotel is around 10-min walk from the cable car line. So the location is quite accessible. I daren’t walk at night though, so I am unsure about the safety along the way. Overall, you get slightly more than what you pay.

Poor 2.0
Was quite run down compared to the photos. The room was very smelly ( we had to open the window to try to air it out). We ended up with bed bug bites and had to take measures against contamination when we got home. So in the end Although the price was attractive I regret that a didn’t pay more to stay in a nicer hotel. Led me to wonder if some of the reviews are fake. Staff were friendly and the location was good
