Andaz Amsterdam was okay, but it would not be my first choice in Amsterdam. The hotel is convenient and the food was good, but the reception area is small and the modern design is not really my taste. The rooms are fine, but the beds were not very comfortable. There is no real spa, and the gym is too small for a hotel in this category. Overall, I would rate it closer to a 3-star hotel than a true 5-star hotel. I also think it is too expensive for what it offers.

5 star hotel but felt more of a 3-4 star. Very interesting and fun design but felt like they used that to hide all the shortcuts. The good: fun, whimsical design. An almost Dutch version of Alice in Wonderland twist with the design. The lobby was done exceptionally well, creating a wow vibe when you first get to the hotel. Upon checking in, the front desk/concierge was helpful and very welcoming, offering us wine/champagne while checking in. The location is just perfect in a great neighborhood right on the canal. It’s very accessible to great food and coffee and walking distance to pretty much anywhere. Close to public transportation. The bad: the room was fun at first, but became very annoying quickly. The vanity and sink for the bathroom is in the middle of the room. We felt like it was always in the way. The bed was hard, pillows were flat, sheets hard. The shower shelf was so angled that everything slid off it when you were showering. We had a canal view but the window layout kind of killed the view. They claim to offer a concierge service, which is just the front desk clerk. I asked her to book a museum and she responded “did you check the website?” No, that’s your job! They severely
