Great atmosphere, helpful staff
The Student Hotwl was great. The staff was friendly and helpful and the lobby area is very cool. We didn’t figure out until we were about to leave though that to have the air conditioning on you have to insert your room key into this random slot in the room but oh well!

Far and Basic
This hotel was overall a disappointment. The location was far from the center in a pretty dead area. The room was basic and lacking some amenities and services I would consider standard.

Wonderful
Absolutely great, we arrived early due to our flights and trains and though they couldn't let us check in early, they safely stored away our luggage for free so we could wander Amsterdam without baggage until we returned after check-in hours. When we returned they were excited to see us, complimented our spooky appearance which isn't often greeted with a smile, so we immediately felt welcome. After giving us our room keys, they gave us yummy stroopwafel and wished us a lovely stay. The rooms were very cozy and had a large amount of outlets to simultaneously charge all of our devices swiftly. The beds were very comfortable and the window system was great. Only a stones throw from the station yet far enough away to be very quiet. We loved it. Thank you.

Delayed check in, unclean room and far from center
Not at all pleased with my stay at this hotel. I had to wait for an hour (until 4pm) to receive my room key, even though check in is at 3pm. The shower curtain in the room wasn't long enough, resulting in a completely soaked bathroom floor after showering. My room was not cleaned for the one day I stayed there, and the smell in the room and on the hallway was horrible. Location was also bad, almost 25 minutes by tram to central Amsterdam. I would not recommend staying at this hotel, it's not worth it even though it's cheap.

my first room was filthy, it was clear whoever occupied it prior to me being given access had just rolled out of bed and showered. apparently cleaning the room before new guests checkin is optional. the next room i was given wasn't much better. the bathroom sink didn't drain in the 18 hours i was there. heads up if you want to reheat food you will be told to catch the tram to amsterdam central and ask a vendor there to reheat your food, with a straight face. unless you book the hotel for 14 nights or more you are not granted, "the privilege of a microwave." breakfast being included isn't a bonus as its prepackaged cold cheese sandwich or croissant, juice or water. the elevators may or may not work. i wouldn't stay at this hotel again.
