Great hotel, very central and nice size rooms for europe! Good linens. Rooms are a tad more tired in person and we did not get the room we had booked due to some last minute water damage but staff were very apologetic and helpful. Decent breakfast as well. Would recommend.

I loved the location and the staff, a beautiful old building. Two things bothered me the toilet with no sink on one side of the bed the shower no toilet on the other side of the bed. You were always walking back and forth. The floors very creaky, the people about us sounded like they had army boots on walking around until 1:30, the second night better but still heard walking around.

Excellent location. Room with a French window/almost balcony was very spacious and quirky in decor . Heritage floors (wooden) made for loud hallway at night , unfortunately. And breakfast offerings were odd , felt like a guest house rather than 4 star hotel. All in all , a good stay .

The rooms are enormous and charmingly rustic, and the staff was friendly and helpful. They went above and beyond, whether it was suggesting things to see and how to get around town, helping people with mobility issues, or helping me figure out where the Uber pick up point was or finding me a needle and thread when my button came off. The front desk is only staffed from 8am until about midnight, but you can access the property with your room key outside of those hours. The hotel is conveniently located in the old town across from a little plaza where often music is played. The trolley stops right in front of the hotel and it is a short walk to the metro and shopping and the ocean. The area around the hotel is very hilly, which is challenging for people with mobility issues, but Ubers and taxis and Bolt are inexpensive and the trolley is right in front of the hotel, which has an elevator (but there are three steps up to get to the elevator.

It was a great central location to get to everywhere! We loved how central it was! It is an older building and we had a pot outside out roof because the ceiling was leaking water for our whole stay, we also had noisy neighbours above us and due to it being an old property you could hear them walking / pacing up and down very loudly one night till gone midnight - it was that loud you couldn’t sleep! I did WhatsApp the reception and they said they would contact the guests - they staff were super helpful and very accommodating! I would stay here again due to location

Was told this used to be the Brazilian consulate for the past 100 years. It has been updated while keeping most of the history. Absolutely beautiful. And a fantastic view of the square. The tram stop is literally five steps from the main entrance (including the famous 28.) Staff were nothing but helpful and friendly. After spending time string the city, relaxing in the chair overlooking the square people watching was fantastic way to unwind. Location is also reasonably central and easy to get to whichever spots you’d like around the city. Recommended.

We had an excellent stay at the Le Consulant hotel. The location was perfect for touring the city - everything was close and easy walking distance. The hotel has great history and the management has done a great job blending modern amenities with the historical charm. For those visiting - keep in mind that the historical Tram 28 stops right in front of the hotel.

Amazing location!! Step out and all of the coffee shops, bars, restaurants and shopping just minutes away. The staff helped with guidance on where to go and with day excursions. We loved the hotel for its balcony and views. The bathroom was compact but new. Bedding was comfortable and there was a fridge. Can’t say enough about how much we enjoyed our stay!!
