Excellent wkend at the castle Had Sunday lunch- lovely but don’t forget to book at reception when you arrive Room was very clean and tidy Water was boiling hot all day Staff were very helpful- you will loose your bearings as the castle layout is confusing with so many corridors and turnings- a map would be helpful to new arrivals 👍

The look and feel of the hotel was true to its historic roots. Lumley Castle is a lovely example of how a hotel can live within an historic building. The library bar was a particular favourite of ours with its lovely setting and the great cocktails. It is only the second time that I have received an authentic Smokey old fashioned complete with bell jar. Will absolutely be returning again to experience the main bedrooms in the castle and hopefully see Lady Lumley 🙂

The place and location were great and the staff were very helpful. Breakfast was really nice and cooked to order so freshly cooked. Bar staff were very attentive and friendly. Only down side was that our room was a bit damp, almost certainly as a result of the shower seal leaking, which is an easy fix, but had obviously been like it for quire some time, so room smelt musty. So general maintenance needs to be improved in my opinion.

Beautifully maintained Castle and grounds. Room was exceptional, makes you feel like a king or queen. Nice quiet bar to have a drink, great dining room and quality food. Great cooked to order English breakfast. Everything was great. It set a stand for us for the rest of our castle hotel search. I would stay here anytime. One suggestion though is to have soothing, calming music at breakfast, as background music, instead of 'hit parade'.

The castle looked amazing as we drove up to it, it was well maintained and kept to the true history of the castle. The rooms were spacious and comfortable and they were surrounding a lovely courtyard which was lovely to sit on, with my coffee in the morning. Stay were helpful and efficient and we ate in the bar, and the food was not only generous and looked appetising, it tasted great too. We would not hesitate to stay there again

Amazing couple of nights at Lumley Castle. The room was beautiful ' a courtyard feature room with 4 poster bed & lots of space. We were surprised how warm the room was & the bathroom had a lovely powerful shower over the bath. The whole castle was well maintained with plenty of walks around the grounds. We especially enjoyed our evening meal in the Knights restaurant where the food was excellent & the staff friendly & efficient. We would have liked a seating area with a roaring fire to sit & relax without being in the crowded bar area & it was quite difficult eating at the low tables in the library bar on our first evening All in all we highly recommend a stay in this beautiful & quirky castle.

The castle is amazing, such a wonderful place to stay. Alex in the bar provided excellent service both to me and all other visitors making their experience a joy. I would definitely recommend, the restaurant staff need to bring the same level of care and service as the bar, being on my own they didn’t think about where best to sit me in the restaurant and seemed annoyed when I wasn’t ready to order. Just small things make the difference to an experience. Overall wonderful and so much history to absorb

Absolutely beautiful place, staff are all fantastic, my wife is coeliac and the staff were very knowledgeable and couldn't have been more helpful plus a lot of the food is gluten free already and a lot of the food that isn't can be adapted. Thankyou to everyone one at the hotel for making our silver anniversary special , we will definitely stay again.
