The bathrooms aren't attached. The beds and pillows are uncomfortable. You have to walk up a ton of stairs. The parking isn't always available. It's overrated.

Good lodging in Portland
Clean, comfortable room. Well-priced compared to other accommodations in Portland. No elevator, steep stairs. Nice breakfast but very small space for eating. The front desk staff is just minimally polite and attentive -- usually on their phone or talking to each other, and don't even look up until you ask for something. But we would stay there again.

Disappointed
My main gripes about the hotel were that the car park was small and we were informed that if we wanted to have a good chance of having a car parking slot, we needed to park by 4pm. That meant that days out had to be cut short so that we could park at the hotel. Another problem was that this hotel with 39 rooms only had 3 small tables seating two people at each in the breakfast area. We were told that if the tables were all occupied we could sit at a table outside on the pavement of a busy road or take the food up to our room…..not ideal! Our bedroom and bathroom were small and looked shabby with the wallpaper peeling off the wall, but maybe that is what makes it authentically Victorian?!

Old world charm
My friend and I were so happy with the charm of the Inn at St Johns. We loved the room's comfort and beauty. Even the winding staircase was a wonderful way to connect with the past. I would definitely stay here again on a future visit to Portland.

No Elevators is a Huge Issue
Front desk was very pleasant and efficient. Hotel has no elevators and we seniors were put on the top floor. The stairs were very narrow and steeper than most. For some reason housekeeping was not provided.
