This hotel tries hard to be a design hotel, but the execution is poor. It is a bit tired and messy. The light in the bedroom is bright white and the least relaxing you can think of. All in all it worked for me, just one night as I was on the road. But if you book this expecting a charming boutique hotel, you probably are going to be disappointed.

Much will depend on the room category and higher category rooms will positively impact the experience. The lounge area is nice and the game room in the basement is nice when travelling with family or friends. The bathrooms seem to have been renovated across the board - clean, fully functional, good amenities. The rooms itself is partially renovated, slightly worn down and again if higher category room probably better. The staff was very accommodating. Personally I would not stay again around union square.
