Carlton Hotel Singapore

Carlton Hotel Singapore

8/10 Good
"Very central hotel, close to all the major sites and across from shopping so super convenient. Hotel overall was great. The amenities were nice. The rooms and overall comfort depends on which floor you stay at. We were initially on the seventh floor and the hallway was musky and heavily scented with perfume or scented spray. The room was damp and musky even when they offered an air purifier it didn’t do much and was causing us hives. The experience made it hard to sleep. We heard others from the seventh floor complaining about how musky and damp their rooms were too. We requested to switch rooms and they didn’t have any available until second day. When we switched to eight floor on second day, the difference was immediate. No musky smell in hallway and room was nice and fresh, not damp, not perfumed, just fresh and clean. We ended up having a nice satay after that. I can’t give them a five star because they should know better than to rent out rooms that are damp musky and smell mouldy. I think they should investigate the entire seventh floor perhaps it’s a ventilation or pipe issue. But overall, had a pleasant stay later on and loved the location."

4 tips for savvy savings when booking a hotel in Singapore

  1. Book for the cheapest times: The most affordable time to visit Singapore is during March, May, and June, when hotel prices tend to be lower. For those on a budget, a stay of at least 3 days is recommended to fully explore the city's key landmarks and cultural attractions. This duration allows visitors to appreciate historical sites, cultural experiences, and natural wonders, providing great value for money. By planning your trip during these months, you might find even better deals, making your visit both enjoyable and budget-friendly.
  2. Look for last-minute deals on Hotels.com: In Singapore, travelers may discover a variety of hotel options by exploring the DealsOpens in a new window and Last-Minute DealsOpens in a new window sections on popular booking platforms. These sections may feature discounted rates on accommodations as your travel date approaches. By enabling notifications, you could stay informed about flash sales and special promotions, ensuring you don't miss potential savings. Additionally, Smart ShoppingOpens in a new window is a useful comparison tool within the app, allowing you to evaluate hotel prices and amenities, helping you choose from our best options based on your preferences.
  3. Be flexible with dates: Prices can fluctuate based on factors like the hotel's location, star rating, and the time of year. Being flexible with your travel dates may help you find better rates for your stay in a Singapore hotel. For travelers seeking something different, boutique hotels often provide a more personalized experience and can sometimes offer better value. When you book through Hotels.com, we'll inform you if the price for your chosen dates is above or below the average. If the price is on the higher end, we’ll suggest alternative dates that might help you find a more affordable option.
  4. Consider your location: Staying in the heart of major cities, like those in Singapore, can provide unmatched convenience and easy access to local attractions, but it often comes with a higher price tag. In contrast, smaller towns and rural areas are generally more likely to be affordable. For travelers seeking better rates, considering accommodations outside the city center may be a wise choice, although it may involve some additional travel time to reach key sites. Alternatively, exploring nearby cities can reveal a wealth of experiences while also offering more budget-friendly lodging options. Balancing convenience and cost can lead to a more enjoyable travel experience.

Best time to go to Singapore

Singapore has a varied climate due to its size, so the best time to visit depends on the region and your preferences for weather and crowds. If you’re looking to soak up the lively atmosphere in Singapore, April, July, and September are the peak months to visit, bustling with fellow travelers. During this peak period, the weather is mostly sunny to mostly cloudy, with light to moderate rainfall. However, if you prefer a more relaxed experience, February, May, and October are perfect for a quieter getaway, marked by light to moderate rainfall and mostly sunny to mostly cloudy conditions.
