Five stars, without hesitation.
My wife and I stayed at The Mercer for two nights while visiting New York City, and from the moment we arrived until the moment we left, the experience was exceptional.
The hotel itself is beautiful in a way that doesn't need to announce itself. In a city full of bright signs and flashy entrances, The Mercer is hidden behind a simple, understated doorway. There is something wonderfully confident about that. It feels exclusive without trying to impress anyone.
Our room was spotless, quiet, and extremely comfortable—exactly what you hope for after a day exploring Manhattan. The location is equally outstanding. Being in the heart of SoHo put some of the city's best shopping, restaurants, and neighborhoods right outside our door.
What truly sets The Mercer apart, however, is the staff.
My wife remarked during checkout that the staff was the best part of the hotel, and I completely agree. Every person we encountered—from the doormen, to the front desk team, to the housekeeping staff—was friendly, professional, welcoming, and genuinely helpful. In an age when good service can feel increasingly rare, The Mercer reminds you what hospitality is supposed to look like.
Anyone can provide luxury accommodations. What creates loyalty is how people are treated. The Mercer excels at both.
We will absolutely be back, and when we do, we'll look forward to seeing the wonderful people who made our stay so memorable.
