Other than the maid forgetting to clean the room my last day everything was excellent for a hotel that age. Desk persons were friendly and helpful.

A mix of new and old
The lobby was gorgeous, check-in very quick. The room was nice--I don't know if we had the "usual", but our room had a kitchenette (fridge, microwave, small gas range, sink). No teabags, but plenty of coffee in room. Decor was a mix of modern (wooden-wall headboard, new fixtures) and old-fashioned (radiator steam heat, pedestal sink, domed doors and a little arch in the entryway). There was a closet opposite the bathroom with shelves, but no light; and a BIG walk-in closet with a light. The bulb kept flickering, so my husband got up on a chair and tightened it. Then it worked fine. Room was actually quite warm (we stayed during an early February thaw), but opening the window gave us a good way to cool things off with some fresh air. The location is terrific if you're planning to hang out on the East Side--it was just 5-10 minutes to pretty much anywhere we needed to be. Had breakfast at The Knick (restaurant next door) on Sunday morning. Very good food. The only things I would change is to have either an actual medicine chest in the bathroom, or a few more glass shelves where you can stow your things, since there's no vanity/countertop; and to have a radio in the room, since there was just an alarm clock. We had our phones, wifi and a Bluetooth speaker, so no issues, but it would have been nice. Parking lot next door was full, but since it was Saturday, we parked on-street for free.

Weekend Jaunt
Hotel is very quaint, built in 1929 I believe. Very well maintained. We had appetizers at the bar, which were very good. Was pleased with location. Parking is not free. If you use their lot, there is a fee.

Not what I booked
Needed two beds reserved for 2 and got a king and they would not help other than 2 offer another room for $99

Christmas party
We enjoyed the room but they charged me an additional $18 per vehicle to park in an unsecured outdoor lot and there was no room service available and no breakfast offered. There was a restaurant that you could access from the hotel lobby but it wasn't affiliated with the hotel so you couldn't charge anything to the room. No pool indoors or out. I just think the place was overpriced. I was expecting to get something nicer or somewhat special and it just wasn't there. I stayed in an executive suite and I made future reservations for a two night stay in a romantic suite on March 1st and 2nd at the same time I made this reservation..The romantic suite looked very nice in the website pictures and I look forward to seeing how it goes. I wasn't disappointed in the room it just didn't do anything for me, if I wouldn't have been charged extra to park my car, I think I would have had a better opinion of place. If I would have known that ahead of time, I would not have booked there and it's already making wish I hadn't booked there for March 1st and 2nd. I'm going to be seeing my favorite band, KISS, on their final tour after 45 years on the road, with my favorite person, my beautiful fiance and it's going to be a very special and emotional weekend and hope the romantic suite won't disappoint.
