Zane Grey Pueblo Hotel

Zane Grey Pueblo Hotel

10/10 Excellent
"We have been coming here for 16 years and love this property for its superior views of Avalon Bay. We used to stay here before the renovation and enjoyed the upgrades. The breakfast is high quality with an omelette and French toast bar included in the price of our stay. We were only puzzled by a couple things. First of all, the lack of an elevator to the 2nd and 3rd floor balcony suites is odd for a room you pay over $500 per night for. At least some sort of luggage assistance would be helpful. Secondly, we found the front desk staff to be a little cool in their reception. It felt a little as if we were imposing. Storing our luggage before check-in was also a bit of a challenge with no bellman on duty. We had to shove our bags into a narrow utility closet that proved to be challenging to get our stuff back out of. It just seems like the check in experience could use a little finesse. We loved the room with the ocean view and the gorgeous balcony. The breakfast staff were amazing. We will certainly consider staying here again in the future, although there are many options on this magical island."

2/10 Terrible
"Tried to reach them by phone multiple times prior to arrival to inquire about dropping off our bags and never could get anyone to answer. Upon arrival we found that they no longer offer shuttle service so we were forced to pay to store our bags at rhe cruise terminal. At check in it took 20+ minutes to check us in and when we finally got to our room it was quite spacious with a balcony but that's where the good part ended. The carpet was patched and the tack strip was poking through stabbing us in the foot. The general condition was dingy and dirty. After the desk closed at 9 pm our toilet was clogged. My husband turned off the water to prevent damage and we texted the after hours number and got a response at 7:20 am. Unacceptable! We were without a toilet all night as were our friends in the room below us. Clearly there is a plumbing issue in the building. The morning staff said someone would contact us about a refund or credit and two weeks have passed and we've received no communication. We paid a resort fee and got nothing in the way of amenities. 1 star is a generous rating. Take your money and stay somewhere else. "
