We had a lovely stay at Chateau Leognan! Emilie at reception was particularly helpful and warming throughout our stay. The rooms and common spaces are impeccably designed and decorated. The restaurant on property was the best meal we had in France all week! The complimentary wine tasting was a nice surprise as an amenity and informative about the chateau’s operations - only wish we knew in advance so we could coordinate timing as it’s only open in the evening and we got there barely too late our first night. There’s also complimentary spa access which we didn’t know about ahead of time, so no matter what time of year you’re visiting, remember to pack a bathing suit to enjoy all the spa has to offer! We were traveling with my parents as couples and noted how kid-friendly the chateau was to potentially return with my small children/their grandchildren as it’s not only romantic but also good for families and larger groups if booked in advance with adjacent rooms in the main chateau (that was my fault as we tagged along last minute to my parents’ reservation). Last thing to note, the property is under construction to add more rooms, a new spa and wine bar, hence my less than excellent rating on the grounds. It was a little difficult to walk off-path from one location to the next (chateau-restaurant-reception) but they have buggies to accommodate that. I look forward to seeing how the renovation updates turn out and hope to bring our little ones back to the chateau with us soon!

This was by far the nicest location that we stayed at while in France. Staff was excellent, and the food was excellent. It is remote, so plan for extra travel times if going into town.

Relaxing chateau with great food and wine

We had a great time here. Beautiful grounds, great chateau architecture, excellent food and wine, plus the friendliest service we have ever seen in France. Baby friendly too!

Two nights was not enough to enjoy this beautiful country resort. Excellent meals, long walks and a beautiful spa to relax in. The staff are so attentive and genuinely helpful. We will definitely return!

We had a very special stay at Léognan in one of their beautiful treehouses overlooking the lake. The breakfast was delivered to our room in a picnic basket. The cosy decor was incredibly sweet. The hotel staff sets wonderful and helpful. We borrowed the electric bikes and took their recommendation for a bakery to grab a picnic for lunch. Fantastic hotel.

We stayed one night in a tree house that had a balcony with a view overlooking a pond and trees. The treehouse was constructed less than a year ago. The treehouse still smelled new! Service was excellent and the restaurant had excellent food. Highly recommend staying here.

8/10 Very good

Lower rating

I would have given a higher rating but we had to leave the breakfast table after waiting nearly half a hour for out hot food and on check out there was no real apology for this. The place is very lovely but staff were not overly friendly. Would probably from a senior person in charge.

This is a stunning resort, Properrty. It’s not quite a hotel but rooms that are extremely high-quality with a restaurant and wine tasting and vineyard and other things on site there isn’t really a bar in the evening that we found that she went to the restaurant. We had a free wine tasting at 6 o’clock, which I think they do every night, but I’m not sure as we only stayed for one night. We did buy some of the local wines that were produced on site. We we bought our own picnic and it was a sunny day we ate in the gardens on one of the tables provided had our own food and their wine and they provided wine glasses for us. The only other choice for food that you can walk to is there on site Resturant otherwise it is a very remote Property. As we had an early start, we opted not to have breakfast but I did pop in to see if I could just have some hot water and there was no one really around. However, the food looked okay. This is a really special place that I felt gutted about leaving. I wished I could’ve stayed longer because it is in such a beautiful setting and to be fair the summer shining which always helps.

Myself and my family had a wonderful 2 night stay at Château Léognan. Our rooms were beautifully decorated with views of the woodlands and the onsite chapel. We took advantage of the complimentary electric bike rentals, to explore the estate and venture out to a nearby lake, and used the tennis court and gym. We also enjoyed a wine tasting experience from the chateau's own winery. For ultimate relaxation, the chateau boasts an incredibly peaceful spa nestled amongst the trees. While the spa access and treatments require an additional fee, our treatment and overall experience was well worth the money. The warm and friendly staff truly elevated our stay. A special shoutout goes to Gilles, whose attentiveness went above and beyond. From chauffeuring us around the estate in a buggy to assisting with the bikes and offering invaluable recommendations for our next stop in Bordeaux, Gilles' genuine hospitality made us feel like cherished guests. He was the first to greet us when we arrived, and the last to say au revoir when we (sadly) left. I could go on, but if you're reading this review and wondering if you should book... DO IT! We wish we had stayed longer and cannot wait to return.

6/10 Good

Beautiful grounds but disappointing overall.

The grounds and interiors of this hotel are superb, however the rest of the experience is lacklustre. It didn’t feel like a 5* experience, more like a 3*. with only one place in the large hotel grounds to get a drink or something to eat outside of breakfast that has no atmosphere in the day. There’s an outdoor area and seating in the restaurant that’s covered in leaves and not well maintained. A beautiful chateau and place to sit with no amenities to even get a coffee or glass of wine feels like a miss. This hotel needs some work to get to the level it appears to be online, particularly on their F&B programme. They advertise as dog friendly but there’s not one single bin to dispose of waste on the grounds and it’s charged at €15 euros, per dog, per night. Which feels unreasonable. We were there for four nights and with rain the dogs left muddy paws on the sheets and yet these weren’t changed. Over €100 for the dogs to stay but there was no additional cleaning or facilities outside of a dog bowl and bed.

We arrived after the long train ride from Paris. The hailed an UBER, and with 30 min. we arrived. The staff from Geil to michelle were absolutely amazing! They made us feel like the royalty who once lived there. Our rooms were fresh, clean and stocked with all we needed to begin our fortnight. We travelled with friends and they were equally impressed. Se scheduled a private wine tasting with Michelle and she is a venerable expert with wines and the Chateau Leognan history. The wines are superb and the property is absolutely amazing. Pictures won’t do it justice! Just come! And see it for yourself. But wait!! The spa is a sumptuous experience, the ladies who are professionals are also kind, beautiful and experts at relieving travel weary bodies of tight muscles and the occasional aches of hoisting luggage on the train or through the airport. The restaurant is excellent and thoughtfully prepared meals await you for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Please ask Hugo or Clement for a special dish if you have a desire for a slight deviation due to dietary restrictions. They are at your service!! Merci Beaucoup!!!
