Much less kid friendly than previously experienced
This was our second time at this beautiful resort, each time with our kids. While the room was as spacious and comfortable as ever this second time, unfortunately the rest of the trip was very kid-unfriendly, which was a shame given the previous experience, anticipation, and price tag. Simple actions such as not remembering that we were a family of five, and thus needed 5 towels, or remembering to replace the toiletries each day (since we were a family of 5) were inconvenient, due to the need to remind housekeeping. In addition, there were no pool rafts and toys as there were last time. When we asked whether there were any toys, we were provided a couple of small sand toys from the lost and found. Finally, at the restaurants, where service was quite slow (not unexpected, it's a resort after all), the simple little activities/coloring for kids were not offered. All of these challenges slightly detracted from an otherwise nice trip.

Fabulous and fun
Our second time at Pelican Hill, with my friend and her mom this time. Our stay was in a four bedroom villa . Over the top for sure, we had a great butler whom I saw in the beginning but didn’t really need. (Trevor) The amenities were many, full service for 6 people in the cabinets plus staples and complimentary drinks and a bottle of wine. Totally impressed that the cooking knives were actually sharp, so many places they are not I usually bring my own Henkles. The resort itself is stunning and our villa had a great view too. Spa service is personable and the women were attentive to our moms need for a great massage. I got some things at the spa gift shop and utilized the business office to make copies . Everything and everyone were fabulous . Housekeeping ladies are sweet and efficient, will definitely stay again!

Not what I expected, don’t waste your $
Poor service at the front desk, something I did not except at a higher end resort. Employees have no energy, did not go out of their way to make the experience great. This is a sign of bad mgmt, they should be on their employees. Have secret shoppers monitor the resort. The place also needs to be remodeled, it’s a little dated, the shower water pressure is not good. Lonely rooms, very dim lights. The Pelican cannot compete with higher end resort such as the Four Seasons or Sofitels. The Irvine company should let the big hotel chains handle the hotel sector. It’s unfortunate this place wasn’t what I expected.
