The location is amazing and the staff is really really good. The down sides are the rooms are a bit dated. Also you have to use off site parking and the breakfast set up isn't great. The Continental Breakfast isn't typically included with the room price. $11 for some fruit, yogurt, assorted pastries and grits. You have to pay $4 extra to get eggs, bacon and sausage. There are a few nearby options for breakfast and a Harris Teeter grocery store within walking distance if you want to do your own breakfast.

Lovely hotel, great service, room was just average
Overall I was not very impressed with the room for $300 a night (especially considering it was our 11 year wedding anniversary). Maybe I'm being cheap but after perusing the town and looking online it seems we could have spent the same or comparable amount on a much nicer room at other hotels within walking distance of the DoubleTree. Our room had the basics; cozy bed, clean room and bathroom, but just an average run-of-the-mill hotel room at (what I feel) a pretty high price. The hotel itself is lovely and service was on point, but I think the next time we spend an anniversary or other "nice" occasion downtown, we'll get a room elsewhere.

Great location & exceptional staff
We recently stayed at the DoubleTree in downtown Charleston. We had such a wonderful experience - the location was great and super convenient to everything we wanted downtown and the staff really went about and beyond our expectations, especially Vincent and Rosie. Vincent made us feel extremely welcome from the moment we walked in the hotel and he was so helpful with our reservation. Rosie and her team in housekeeping made us feel at home during our stay, everyday she made sure we had everything we needed in the room and that the room was always clean and well stocked. Both Vincent and Rosie were so friendly and made our stay extra special. Also the room was quite spacious and the hotel had a nice, big courtyard to eat, drink and hangout in. I will definitely be staying at this hotel again and highly recommend to others.
