To me, this is the finest hotel in Colonia Americana section of Guatemala. Everything is perfect. The larger upgraded king-size bedroom was spectacular in every way. The Tree line Street has many cafés and is nice to walk on even if you aren’t necessarily going somewhere and is not far from the main nightlife street in this region. Finally, the staff, especially Lettie is superb.

Perfect, and perfectly situated in the best neighborhood. This historic building is charming and the decor is lovely with a super comfy bed. I was in room 8 which is perfect for a solo traveler. The staff are super helpful. Colonia Americana is the coolest part of the city and Gala Hotel is on the nicest street full of grand homes, coffeeshops and restaurants. Walkable to the city center and near to the wonderful University Art Museum. (4/5 for amenities only because the pool was undergoing maintenance when I visited.) Such a lovely place to stay.

My partner and I were stuck in Guadalajara during the security incident on Feb 22. The staff were absolutely incredible, going above and beyond to keep us well-fed and safe when the city was shut down. I am truly grateful for the kindness they showed. Prior to the incident, we really enjoyed all of the cafes in the neighbourhood. The hotel is in an excellent location.
