The room was nice. It was a little dated but seemed very clean. The bathroom had ample lighting and a large shower. We booked a courtyard room but it did not actually have a view of the courtyard. Overall I would stay here again but would only book if I was able to get a really good rate.

The hotel is well maintained with a pleasant and helpful staff. The bar was great as well as the bartenders. While we didn't do evening dining or lunch at the hotel restaurant we did enjoy our breakfasts there. The wait staff was very attentive and had a right at your service work ethic. Pool and hot tub was clean and pleasant with towels provided at the facility. Close location to the wharf and Cannery Row, both within easy walking, is a major plus. We would definitely stay again should we once more travel to Monterey.

We are returning from our 4 days and 3 nights trip from Portola Hotel. We were unhappy to wake up before 6 am from blower sound after the first night. However, we didn’t have any problems after the first night. The room was clean and their amenities were good. We were there for a seminar that included all the meals, so we didn’t get chance to try their restaurant. I heard the food is very food there. We are planning to return to the hotel for next year’s seminar and would like to try their food. My husband enjoyed their facilities including their swimming pool, jacuzzi and workout facility . He only has good things to say about the hotel.
