Remains of the Solway Viaduct The Solway Viaduct, over 1 mile long, was constructed in 1870 to span the Solway just west of Bowness-upon-Solway. It was finally demolished in 1934. http://www.cumbria-railways.co.uk/solway_viaduct.html This view is taken from the carpark at the eastern end of the Campfield Marsh RSPB reserve http://www.rspb.org.uk/reserves/guide/c/campfieldmarsh/index.asp an area of saltmarsh and tidal flats. The hill in the far distance to the left is Criffel, to the south-west of Dumfries in Scotland on the far shore of the Solway Firth.
