It was a great stay and the apartment was very comfortable and the amenities easy to use and access. It's not far from the train accesses and very walkable.

Great Location and Amenities

Perfect for a girls' weekend get-away. Close to CTA station and walkable to many attractions and restaurants. Comfortable and well-stocked with basic necessaries (dishes, cutlery, glassware). Added plus was the roof top terrace we enjoyed on the unseasonably balmy October evening! Our only complaint was not being able to stay longer. We hope to be back.

Gréât location. Gréât amenities for families. Loved having a full fridge and laundry. No replies to questions via suggested app, however, so zero support/contact with a no-staff hotel, so that was the only disappointment. Fabulous stay otherwise.

Sonders - Chicago

We had a 2 night stay in Chicago at Sonders The Plymouth Loop. The layout of unit was very nice and the room was very clean. The issue was that the air conditioning did not work. I brought the AC issue to the property management immediately and it was not resolved until the next day when we were moved to a different unit. The first night was very uncomfortable without AC (about 85 degrees). I requested a refund for the entire first night and was denied the refund. I had paid for an early check in but I spent that time dealing with the AC and was also denied a credit for that. They did say they would give me a very small credit for my inconvenience but I never received it. Also, I had booked and paid through Hotels.com but Sonders also charged me. I did get a credit back from Sonders minus the early check in fee. Just a bad experience with the management and their policies but the room (2nd room with AC) was very nice.

I think the rooftop was nice but the fire pit didn’t work. The room itself was a nice set up but FILTY ! Floors dusty and dirty. The bathroom wall near the shower looked like it was falling apart. There were bugs crawling around the bathroom floor like maybe cracks from the walls. The sheets and comforters had stains. I washed then upon arrival. The windows are not sound proof. There were people hanging out outside the building smoking weed until 3 in the morning so I was able to smell the smoke inside the room and hear them ALL night every night! They should get security to stand there because apparently it’s a hand out. I would not suggest booking this place

Clean room. Extremely disappointed there was no heat in the rooms and the portable heater barely worked. The beds were too low to the ground. I’m very disappointed to know that this is a Marriott property Marriott needs to do better.

Needs a lot of improvement

I love Sonder but this location is not my favorite. First night we couldn’t sleep because of a gas leak in our apartment it took them 4 hours to answer and then find someone to come etc. Next day the manager arrived and he was super nice, he relocated us in another location and wow, that one was fantastic. This one needs a lot of improvement.

Run, don’t walk away from this listing! I highly recommend this place. Where to start? We had a late check-in 10:30 PM, which I thought would not be a problem seeing as how they boast a mobile touchless access, or at least an access code, but when we arrived at 10:30 PM, the access code did not work, and trying to get a hold of them on their 24 seven customer service line, both through chat and through the phone, fruit to be a terrible experience, you end up talking to someone in the Philippines. There is no stateside communications let alone on site personnel. We had to wait 45 minutes before we got into the unit, not a great experience as I had my son with me. Once we got in, I could see that I had made a mistake in making this booking, due to the catfish of photographs that were on the listing compared to what you actually got, the place has the worst secondhand furniture, crowned in, has a great view of the prison windows, and is really really noisy! We didn’t sleep much the first night, there were people out on the street drinking and doing drugs, and despite putting in our earplugs, we knew that this was not the right location for us. I put in a complaints the next day about the late access, and also the noise on the street and asked to terminate the listing, they said they would give me compensation, that never happened. Also, they refuse to let me terminate my listing. I highly suggest you find somewhere else to stay.

A little messy

The apartment is clean and stylish. Staffs are friendl. Great location. There are some areas needed improvement. There is only one pack of salt in the kitchen. The drawer with the small appliances can't be open unless u open the oven. Not able to pump shampoo out with one hand in one of the bathroom. The pump doesn't work really well either with both hands. Washer stopped working after soaking the clothes. All my clothes are dripping water I had to hand twist them dry. Good thing is Dryer works.

Left standing on the street

The accommodation was fine IF you could get in! The entry system from the street was broken when I arrived at 7:30pm and was still so when I left at 10:45 the following morning. At one stage I was one of approx 15 people waiting outside on the sidewalk for another guest to leave before we could get in. There was NO meaningful support. Phone calls to resulted in vague promises of "security" being on the way. The chat (a bot presumably) was worse than useless. Avoid unless you're comfortable with the possibility of being left on the street.

It was very conveniently located near the Chicago Arts Institute and mass transit options within the Loop. Still, some of the fixtures such as shelving) were of low quality materials (particle board). (I had a similar experience with a Sonder property in New Orleans.) I think one of the shelves above the sink looked like it was loose from its brackets. But this did not deter us from enjoying our stay.

I had a reservation and they send me the access instructions after arriving to the place someone was inside the apartment. I called, text and speak with someone in the property, but I wasn't able to get an explanation of what happend or a relocation to another room or apartment complex (they own several in Chicago). I was traveling with my kid so I had to find a hotel on my own. This was very unprefessional from their side. In addition, building wasn't in good shape and the door show signs of that people have try to break in before.

I will express my frustration and disgust with the condition our place was in upon checking in last week. The place was in a layer of dust, grime, and filth. dishes are dirty with old food crusted to them, greasy film across stove and counters, no privacy in 2 of the bedrooms (that was NOT disclosed) due to half walls and pull shades to block the gap & the doors didn’t securely close, mold in a bathroom where water soaked into the wall, found old food under the couch when it was moved. This was completely unacceptable- I didn’t even want to stay but we couldn’t find other accommodations to fit us all. I should NOT have to clean a place upon my arrival! Especially for the $$. I reached out via chat and was told this would be escalated but I have yet to hear from anyone. The communication is terrible. There was no one at the property so you have to resort to chat through the app or dig for miles to find a phone #. You never get an immediate response through chat- sometimes it took hours. I’ve given them ample opportunities to rectify this and the continue to ignore my complaints.
