It is a magnifcient property. Rooms were fabulously well decorated, generously sized and comfortable. Welcoming and taking care of guests and details were in our experience - with only few exceptions - not present. It is like you technically get 5 stars but no soul and personality with it. The hotel was fully booked and the terraces have no privacy. Nore dors the layout of restaurant or pools side. It gelt overcrowded and somehow like in a chicken stable. Guests staying in other than the main building had to go to the wellness area through the main lobby. And there were many. Last but not least, the quality of the food is not up of what you would expect from a luxury establishment. We were happy to leave the place.

Unique historical, yet modern place to relax

Beautiful place surrounded by unique nature and history. The adjacent historical porcelain factory and related buildings, like the church, are preserved exquisitely and well worth a visit. The setting on the river makes for a serene and relaxing stay. The breakfast buffet has quite a good selection of Portuguese delicacies.

We enjoyed our stay at your hotel. The staff was friendly , helpful and professional. We especially enjoyed the indoor pool and exercise room. The breakfast buffet wes excellent! We also enjoyed the Vista Alegre ceramics on display and neighboring museum.

this hotel has the capacity to be good, but it feels like the staff couldn’t care less whether you were there or not. Even taking into consideration cultural differences, they are ambivalent at best, dismissive and grumpy at worst. The front desk are particularly unhelpful with a few exceptions of individuals. We found the hotel director the only person that was any help and her two assistants. They have a ‘kids club’ which has absolutely zero in it, literally nothing, not even colouring which we had to ask for. The infant cot that they provided was completely broken and wouldn’t even have been safe, but we had to point this out to have it replaced. Nobody is able to come up with any practical solutions to facilitate families finding appropriate sleeping arrangements, even though there is plenty of space to do this. The beds are extremely comfortable and the one bed apartment worked well for us, but the customer service was completely woeful.

This is a fabulous 5 star hotel. The room was very spacious, with every amenity we could wish for. Amazing and extensive breakfast buffet with freshly prepared and constantly replenished selections to suit any palate. They even had the makings for mimosas. We also had an excellent dinner in the restaurant one evening. Food was impeccably prepared and inventive- gourmet twists on local cuisine. This was our favorite of 7 hotels we stayed in during our recent Portugal road trip.

My husband has stayed here previously on business and thought it would be a place I would enjoy. It was, however our stay was marred by the very poor service. This was due to a lack of trained staff . It was August , the hotel was busy and there were just not enough staff who knew what they were doing to give a level of service you should be able to expect in a 5 star hotel. The facilities were good, breakfast was also good and the food offer was good when you finally got it. I’m sure if you visit at less busy times of the year you will enjoy your stay. It was a disappointing end to our holiday

Great value for money near the Venice of Portugal

Very spacious bedrooms, extremely comfortable beds & finally a Hotel which provides good pillows of different sizes. Breakfast was a buffet breakfast including fresh, cut fruit, plain & flavoured yoghurts, pastries, cooked options (thankfully with real eggs used for their scrambled eggs & not a powder base mix), bacon, beans, mushrooms, sausage, different breads & rolls, pancakes & crepes, fresh fruit juices…..this was a real treat. The gym is also a large room compared to the norm. The pools are both indoor and outdoor options & yes, they are large. Sauna & steam rooms are poolside inside as is a jacuzzi. Plenty of parking is available on site. Vista Alegre is world renowned and is worth taking the very few steps to visit their shop & their museum, especially off-season when the weather may not be perfect

The room was good and had also a good view but really bad wifi and the maintenance/standard level was not the best. Irons are not made available, so you would need to order the service and then be dependent on availability and paying for it.

Catalogue of disasters

We thought we’d treat ourselves to a one night luxury stay which turned out to be quite the opposite as the electricity went off: no lights, shower, toilet flush, couldn’t shave, dry hair, have clothes ironed or get a hot meal in the restaurant. The manager said ‘it happens’ - if it happens why wasn’t there a contingency plan? A beautiful hotel but poor customer relations. No explanations, no information, no compensation, not even the offer of a glass of wine to help get through the night. To add insult to injury they booked us a restaurant in the town which, when we got there, was closed - we had to laugh! Definitely a “memorable experience” as it says in the hotel information.

O Hotel tem um excelente espaço no SPA, a piscina interior é grande e muito boa, mas com tanto espaço é pena que tenham um jacuzzi minúsculo, um banho turco pequeno também e uma sauna muito má, pois não tem ampulheta de tempo (partida), tem um alguidar de plástico para colocar água sobre as pedras e o espaço quase nem permite a entrada e saída das pessoas de dentro da sauna

Quarto bom, espaçoso, confortável com uma varanda simpática com vista para a piscina. Estava a espera de um mini bar com mais qualidade, so me lembro de um kit kat. Acho que um hotel desta qualidade merece mais atenção a certos detalhes. Bom pequeno almoço. O bar do hotel é interior, sem janelas e a meu ver muito pouco acolhedor e convidativo, pensei inclusive que nao tinha ainda encontrado o bar quando na verdade estava a olhar para ele. Fiquei desiludida, pois é algo que aprecio num hotel. O mesmo em relação ao bar da piscina. Num hotel de 5 estrelas tinha expectativa de algo mais “simpatico”.

Hotel avec un beau domaine entretenu. Nous avons regretté l'accueil reçu à la réception non digne d’un hotel 5*. Accueil froid, minimaliste et limite désagréable. Nous remercions le jeune homme qui a pris nos bagages et nous a accompagné très agréablement jusqu'à nos chambres. Nous avons séjourné à 4 adultes sur 2 chambres. Les chambres étaient grandes et confortables sans effet wouahou pour un 5*. Pas d'attention particulière d’accueil hormis une bouteille d’eau. Literie confortable, chambre spacieuse avec un petit extérieur. 2 parking disponibles, un couvert et l'autre non. Petit déjeuner très bien avec de très bons produits. Nous avons dîné au restaurant. Tous les plats étaient très savoureux et service impeccable. Quelques améliorations de prestations à envisager pour être réellement au niveau d’un 5* et surtout améliorer la réception. C’est la carte de visite de l'hôtel et la première impression.

Relativamente à limpeza, estava tudo muito limpo e cuidado. No entanto, notou-se alguma falta de pessoal, sobretudo colaboradores com maior formação e experiência. Quanto ao restaurante, não correspondeu às minhas expectativas. Relativamente ao spa, gostei bastante da massagem e do profissionalismo da terapeuta. No entanto, senti falta de um pequeno detalhe que faz toda a diferença: em muitos hotéis, após a massagem, os hóspedes são convidados a relaxar numa sala tranquila enquanto desfrutam de um chá ou outra bebida. É um gesto simples, mas que proporciona um final de experiência muito mais agradável. Neste hotel, esse momento não existe.
