I really enjoyed this hotel. I would absolutely look to stay here or at other hotels in the Hotel Catalonia line during future travel to Barcelona. The location near Plaça de Catalunya was very convenient to have easy access to everything you would want to do in and around Barcelona via a short walk or easy bus or metro access. The hotel itself was very nice with a comfortable room and friendly staff. I upgraded my room to have a balcony that offered a nice sitting area and view of the skyline. If I had a little more time I would have used the spa, but I did peek at it and the facilities looked nice.

The room was considerably smaller than advertised. The hotel's own web-site had dimensions and pictures contradicting the actual size of the room. It was a late arrival, and the night clerk wasn't helpful. The room was a double bed, but not even a place to open your suitcase and not suitable for two people. The day staff was very helpful, however, and switched us to a larger room, perhaps even an upgrade. Just be aware that they might put you in a room class smaller than advertised! This stay was in mid October, and it was still a bit warm out. Since the small room was on the inside, the window opened to a courtyard and not the outdoors. This room was advertised as having air-conditioning, but in fact this is controlled at the hotel level, so AC was not available! So that first night was hot, in addition to being cozy!

Great location once Las Ramblus construction is completed. As of May 25, they still have much work to do before Las Ramblas is back to its previously fascinating venues. Hotel rooms are small as our most European hotel rooms. I would consider staying there again.
