We had an amazing time at Funchal Barcelo. The staff was extremely nice and treated us so well. We were pleasantly surprised to find a bottle of champagne in our room one day - they had seen from our passport that we were celebrating a birthday. Complete shock and unexpected. Location was great! Close to the water, easy to walk the downtown streets and the rooftop pool was wonderful (although sometimes a bit crowded). We would recommend Madeira and especially this hotel to anyone who asks. I can't say enough great things about our experience! Looking forward to coming back, hopefully soon!

The Barcelo is the perfect place to stay. It is close to the water front, cathedral, main town. The oldest street and cable car are just a five minute walk. The hotel itself is lovely. Breakfast is delicious and the buffet selection well stocked. Staff are really friendly and helpful. The rooftop pool, although not very deep, is lovely to cool down in. The views from the rooftop are delightful in the day and night. Definitely worth staying here.

The hotel was beautiful and clean. It was in the center of the old town. Restaurants on the streets on either side of the hotel. Music everywhere. One block from the water and one block from the Main Street. Everything you could imagine was in walking distance of the hotel. The best part was the rooftop infinity pool and the views from the rooftop were spectacular. Best breakfast buffet ever and it’s included in the stay. I’d recommend Barcelo Funchal Oldtime to anyone who wants to experience Madeira.
