Beautiful old palace hotel brought up to date for the modern sophisticated traveller with new restaurants; Cova and Spago by Wolfgang Puck, fabulous bedrooms with exceedingly large and comfortable beds, a terrific rooftop bar that’s perfect for sunset cocktails all complimented by some of the friendliest, genuinely helpful staff my wife and I have come across in our travels. If they could only find a way to open the original front entrance with its grand staircase it would be perfect!

This is an amazing facility, elegant, centrally located to most activities, and the staff were well-trained and polite. Our experience dining at Spago was not bad, but it was clearly overpriced for what we were served, despite being on the Michelin list. Breakfast was phenomenal, with so much variety. The room was very spacious and well-appointed, and what a wonderful experience to have such a nice bathroom with spacious, high-end showers!!! Kudos to Matild, I would strongly recommend this one for those willing to indulge while visiting Budapest.

The Matild Palace is a beautiful hotel in a fantastic location. The architecture, elegant design and overall atmosphere create a truly luxurious impression. The room was beautiful, spacious and always clean and well maintained. The breakfast buffet was one of the highlights. It offers a wide variety of high quality options and is definitely worth recommending. There is still some room for improvement when it comes to the service. The staff could be warmer and more attentive overall. At the entrance and around the spa, I noticed staff members regularly using their phones, which did not create the level of service I would expect from a five star hotel. We also visited Spago by Wolfgang Puck. Unfortunately, the service was not particularly attentive and, while the food was perfectly fine, the quality did not fully justify the price in my opinion. Overall, Matild Palace is a beautiful hotel with an excellent location, stunning rooms and a very good breakfast. Only a few small details are missing to make it a true five star experience. A more attentive and genuinely welcoming service would make a significant difference.
