The staff at Quinta da Bela Vista are true professionals and make sure every detail of service is perfect. You're surrounded by old world charm and class and it's a treat to stay there. Located in an unassuming neighborhood, you drive through the gates to a little eden with beautiful gardens and wonderful accommodations. Food was excellent. But it's really the staff that make the hotel shine.

Outstanding boutique hotel with superb gardens and swimming pool. Hotel is located in the suburbs of Funchal with free parking. Staff were extremely helpful. Room was spacious and well-appointed and had a balcony overlooking the gardens. Food was excellent!

Relaxing retreat above Funchal!

Lovely stay at Quinta da Bela Vista, very quiet and relaxing. We enjoyed the beautiful breakfast buffet, pool bar and facilities across the grand estate. The pool and tennis court use was a highlight. It was also handy to have the mini bus service on weekdays to go into the centre of Funchal. Great time we will be back!

Great stay at Quinta da Bela Vista

We had a great stay. The facilities were very good, the restaurants were all nice, in particular the a la carte in the Manor House was excellent. The pool, sauna, jacuzzi and gym were always available when we want them. The gardens were lovely and the view to the city was beautiful. We would definitely recommend the hotel to others

Beautiful grounds and buildings. Good restaurants/bars internally and others walkable distance downhill (taxi back for the less fit). The main asset of the hotel are the brilliant staff who treated my wife and I wonderfully. Would recommend this hotel without hesitation. Great week there. And Madeira is beautiful - did a tour of the western and northern sides - fantastic.

I liked the fact the hotel was quiet and tucked out of the way from the hustle and bustle of central Funchal with good views and surrounding scenery. My room was very spacious and comfortable (superior double) and worth every penny. The staff were all very welcoming and most helpful with any requests such as booking taxis or giving advice about local activities and trips. My only slight criticism is that they had no USB charging points in the room but luckily I did bring two adapter plugs with me so was easily able to charge my various devices - plenty of spare sockets in the room.

The hotel itself is very charming, with beautiful grounds that are well maintained. The staff were excellent throughout our stay. They are friendly, helpful and always accommodating. We also really enjoyed the breakfast, which had plenty of choice, and we ate at the pool bar several times, where the food was consistently good. The free parking was another big plus. Our room felt a bit more dated than we were expecting from a 5-star hotel, but it was still very clean and had a fantastic view. We were kindly offered a different room, but it was in a very similar condition. I wouldn't have had any complaints if this was a 4-star hotel, but at 5 stars I expected more. The gym was quite dirty, and when I took out an exercise mat to do some stretching, a number of bugs and what looked like insect eggs fell out. After that experience, I didn't feel comfortable using the gym again. One thing worth noting is the location. One of our taxi drivers mentioned that the hotel is in the roughest neighbourhood in Funchal. While the surrounding streets are a little run-down in places, we personally never felt unsafe and had no issues walking around the area. There is a shuttle service from the hotel free of charge. There is also a big supermarket and petrol station only two minutes away. Overall, the hotel has a lot going for it. However, the rooms and gym would benefit from some attention and refurbishment to better match the rest of the property's appeal.

We did enjoy staying here, but wouldn’t say it meets the standards of a luxury hotel. The rooms were clean, quiet and the AC is great which was most important to us overall. But the decor and finishes are tired. And amenities are low quality. A 2 in 1 soap/shampoo is just not appropriate for the star rating. The dining staff is serviceable but not friendly, but the reception staff is quite pleasant. The grounds of the hotel are lovely-we enjoyed the poolside bar quite a bit! The food at the restaurants is good but the breakfast is the exact same every day and lacking in terms of quality I’d say. Overall, we did like this place but could definitely use some upgrades.
