Location is good, outside bar staff lovely and massive breakfast selection. Room size was okay, had booked a room for 3 but was only ready for 2 so had to call reception and get it sorted, staff on in the evening were very unhelpful and kept asking us to come back and talk to staff during the day. Security not great, there was a drunk man not from the hotel in the women’s toilets in the lobby. Drinks like poncha double the price compared to bars down the road.

Room was very generous size and 'double' bed was 6ft and very comfy! Double sink and spotless bathroom. We were lucky to have a balcony with view over the sea. Breakfast buffet offered fantastic choice and one night we opted for Madeiran evening buffet and were visited by a traditional Madeiran singing and dancing group! Within walking distance of the town and hotel also provided us with information on tours with direct or nearby pick up.

Fantastic design. Huge inner spaces, giant projection panel ín the main hall about best parts of Madeira and the hotel, breathtaking, 180 degree view from the groundfloor restaurant to the harbour and 10 floor high giant ships, the surrounding park and the mountains. In collective places and rooms, original, signed artworks from local artists (screenprints and giant textiles). Unfortunately ín the rooms the priority of the design comes at the expense of practicity. There is only one cupboard with one drawer and one lamp on one side of beds, while on the other side, there is an unnecesserily big table. Place is too narrow to move between the bed and the cabinet. The personnel is very polite and helpful. Special thanks to Krisztina, who helped to solve our problem with the noise coming from the neighbouring disco. We appreciate itt very much!
