Be sure to ask if you are getting a basement room, less light, no view, and street noise. The twin mattresses we had were hard as rocks and the pillows not much better. The food was cafeteria level. The staff were pleasant however and the courtyard is beautiful.

The hotel is fine, although a bit too expensive. It’s not good value for money, as the room wasn’t very clean. We had to ask them to please clean the bathroom because they hadn’t done so during our stay. There were four of us sharing the room (two adults and two children), and the dirt really built up. On the other hand, the room is spacious and very nice, although the single beds were rather uncomfortable and old. The breakfast is excellent and very tasty. And the hotel is in a quiet area, a 20-minute walk from High Street.

We spent two weeks at the Voco Royal Terrace and loved the experience! The King Suite was huge; king size bed, pull out sofa bed, seating area with a sectional couch, built-in wardrobe with hanging spaces and drawers, beautiful bathroom with separate tub and shower. The housekeeping amenities were lovely and included free cans of water plus shortbread cookies and Tunnock caramel bars daily. Food quality was good and the terrace outside was stunning. All staff we encountered was lovely and so helpful. We plan to stay here again next time we come!

Our entire family stayed at the voco Edinburgh Royal Terrace on the front and back end of a ten day trip through Scotland. We really enjoyed this property and would definitely stay there again. Lovely, quiet street, walkable to historic city center, large comfortable rooms, some with gorgeous garden views, wonderful breakfast and bar. Staff was very helpful all the time, with Lewis being a particular favorite. :) Overall a great choice for a visit to incredible Edinburgh.
