I recommend adding this city to your Ecuador itinerary. Is compact, beautiful, walkable and has a modern light train that takes you from the airport to the historic center in 10 minutes (getting the transport card needed might take as long though).

Great downtown tourist area. Very clean, and the 'old' part of town was very interesting and full of great little moments and surprises.

Cuenca is Ecuador's most beautiful city. This hotel is right in the heart of Cuenca and with the parking they offer you can leave your car behind and start walking as this city is best explored walking. So much history, food, people and experiences.

Cuenca es la ciudad más bella del Ecuador. Un poco cara para salir a comer. En los cuatro días que estuvimos no pudimos conseguir un buen café

Cuenca is a beautiful city filled with historic charm. People are friendly and kind.
"Our stay was fantastic. We really enjoyed the rooms since they were nice, quiet, and clean, but a bit cold. We also loved the buffet-like breakfast. The food was great. "
"Our family enjoyed staying at the Vaway Hotel in Cuenca. It was in the center of many restaurants, shops and more. The hotel was clean, the staff was nice and the rooms were well kept. "
"Beautiful establishment. The front desk attendant was extremely understanding and accommodating with our late check-in. Rooms are clean and very spacious. Highly recommend!"
