I've been coming to Reading since I was a baby- it's expanded a lot! From the hotel the city centre is very walkable and there are great shopping and dining options. The trains to London or other locations are a good way to see more of the South.

London commuter town, nice in the evening, rough round the edges in the daytime and late at night. Typical of places where the people with the most money spend the least in the local area. Reminds me of Stoke, my home town.

Reading has a lot of nice bars and restaurants and like anywhere else it also has some dodgy bars but stay on the main drag and it's perfectly fine.

Reading is a little medieval town and also a college town along with international companies so I felt like that coupled with its proximity from Heathrow was alright. It felt more like a family neighborhood.

"Had a lovely, calm, problem free stay. Check in staff were warm, welcoming and really helpful. Room spacious and well presented.
Excellent, relaxing buffet breakfast."
"Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Gentleman on reception went out of his way to come over and ask us if our room was ok and we were happy with everything,
Property looks bit tired from outside but very nice inside and everywhere very clean. "
"Very comfortable overnight stay booked as were going to a music festival a few miles away and didn’t want to drive back home late at night . This was perfect .
A nice welcome and check in/check out.
We booked breakfast and it was delicious. The breakfast host was very welcoming as were the team in the restaurant .
Having a gym was very useful.
Bedrooms was nice and spacious and well maintained
Iron and ironing board, hairdryer, plenty of power points and usb ports.
Lots of wardrobe space and lighting inthe wardrobe .
Bathroom had shower , which we prefer to a bath.
Very quiet room. The only thing that I didn’t notice was a safe . Maybe it was hidden. A mini fridge would have been nice but not essential.
all in all a very comfortable stay and we would definitely stay again when meeting friends or family from Bristol or Gloucester area. Or visiting the Cotswolds but not wanting to drive back to London.

"Lovely hotel and room, check in was a bit confusing as we weren’t sure which building Reception was in-ended up having to get back into the car with all our luggage and driving to the lodge which was some distance from the Reception we’d gone to-there are two.
Bathroom looked lovely initially, however when used the toilet flush need Amazonian strength and the shower didn’t drain it could also have done with a bit of Mould and mildew remover. "
"Close to train station from where we walked. Good visit. Room was comfortable and well thought out with everything we needed. Check in/out excellent and fast. Breakfast was enough to set us up for the day."
"What a great find! Visiting the area for a gig & decided to have 2 nights away. The Great House was a last minute booking but what a wonderful place! Idylic riverside setting in a small village with lovely bar & restaurant. Staff were all very friendly, from the lady who greeted us at reception & upgraded our room to the fabulous housekeeping - the lady with the ted hair deserves a special mention as we thoroughly enjoyed chatting with her!!! The room allocated was delightful, the bed MASSIVE & the pillows just amazing! Huge shower & high end toiletries, the fridge & fresh milk were an added bonus...as was the fan which kept the room perfectly cool despite it being 26 degrees outside in the evening. Will definately stay again if we are in the area and highly recommend to anyone considering visiting"
