Belle Époque glamour on Palermo’s gulf

Villa Igiea makes an entrance with a restored late 19th-century palazzo setting that pairs Art Nouveau drama with an easy, modern polish. Even the social spaces feel artfully staged, from sea-breeze days by the panoramic freshwater pool to nights set to a finely tuned cocktail ritual by Maestro Salvatore Calabrese. In rooms and suites, classic Sicilian style shows up in antique pieces, hand-painted tiles, and Carrara marble bathrooms stocked with Irene Forte amenities.

  • Chef-led Sicilian dining

Florio Restaurant channels local culinary history under Fulvio Pierangelini’s eye.

  • Spa tower rituals

Sea-view treatment rooms, hammam, sauna, and a relaxation terrace reset the pace.

  • Private beach access

A dedicated service connects guests to nearby Mondello beach for sea time.

Staff were extremely attentive, kind and helpful. Breakfast was delicious, in fact each meal was freshly cooked and they were always wanting to do whatever they could to accommodate needs. Whilst the hotel is expensive we couldn’t recommend it enough and it is worth the price.

8/10 Very good

Concierge and reception staff were very good. Hotel is in a lousy location and has no beach or water access, yet the view is impaired by a jetty and a commercial marina. Food was mostly unimaginative and mediocre. Overall it was not a good value at all.

8/10 Very good

The property is lovely as is the staff - particularly in the dining areas. I was disappointed not to have a bathtub. But that was about my only disappointment. My turndown service was the best of any hotel I have heretofore stayed in … and I am a retired hotel owner!

I would like to recommend it as the #1 best hotel in Sicily. It is unfortunate that the swimming pool is not open, but it has all the advantages of a hotel. All the staff were friendly and the food was so delicious. Although the hotel is old, it was very clean.

Villa Igeia is an absolutely magical place to escape the hustling downtown of Palermo. We stayed for two nights and I wish we had more time. The staff and service was impeccable, dinner at restaurant Florio is worthy of a Michelin star. The concierge team, especially Irene went above and beyond to assist us with planning prior to arrival. I highly recommend this property.
