The Strater was the perfect location to see historic Durango! Walking distance to the train station for an amazing ride to Silverton! The restaurants were great. Definitely take the self-guided tour of the hotel, it's so interesting. The staff all were extremely helpful. Can't wait to visit again next year!

We loved it! This hotel is has so much historical charm and an excellent location on Main Street Dorango. The rooms are historically decorated as well but really comfortable and well appointed. Everything was very clean. We especially enjoyed the Diamond Belle Saloon with their excellent happy hour, good food and entertaining piano player. Highly recommend!!

I found this place charming. Interesting and with plenty of dining choices, not to mention in the heart of everything, I was glad to discover this place. People seemed to be having a great time in the other bar/dining spots, but I dined at The Mahogany Grille in the hotel and I was grateful I'd made the decision to do so my first night. The tuna appetizer and salmon entrée were exquisite. The staff was very pleasant and really the only potential downside is the closeness to the whistle of the train. Thankfully that seemed to stop around 8:30 PM and possibly started around 8:30 AM. I will likely stay here again.

Great old hotel right downtown, and near the Durango Silverton train station. We stayed here because we like historic buildings and this one did not disappoint. It has modern conveniences, yet still allows you to step back in time.

It is a nice old hotel. It is just limited in accessibility because of its age. It has a number of steps which you must use to access the hotel and has only one small, slow elevator. Its location is great and was a fun place to spend a couple nights.

It is an historic hotel in a great location, so in that context it was amazing. It’s part hotel and part museum complete with a saloon. The building is over 137 years old and an icon of the downtown area. You’ll feel like you are in a Time Machine, so that is why we loved it. You just have to keep in mind it’s super well maintained but it’s just old and historic so it doesn’t have modern amenities in the most of rooms for example. We will stay here again.

This is an elegant hotel in the period style with all the amenities that you would want for a couple's weekend or stay in Durango. It is good for families, but the majority of guests appeared to be couples and took advantage of the 3 restaurants/bars in the building, as well as easy walking distance to all places downtown. Very comfortable rooms, a beautifully decorated hotel, amazing staff, and well-maintained. Reserved parking next to the hotel for easy access and traveling.

This hotel was great! My wife and I stayed for two nights while we were explored Durango and took the train to Silverton and back. The wood work and furniture in the room were beautiful along with the hand painted wall paper. The whole hotel really set you back and time. The restaurant the Mahogany Grille was fabulous!!

Very cute historical room! The night staff and manager were awesome and accommodating! Very quiet until about 7 when the train blows its horn but not the hotels fault! I love Durango and had a fantastic stay!!!
