Had a very comfortable and stress free stay during a busy week in South Lake Tahoe. The gentleman at the front desk was very friendly and welcoming, and let me keep my car parked there past my check out time, when parking around Stateline was at a premium. The staff when checking in was very friendly. The property itself was very run down. Bathroom ceiling had water damage and was partially coming down. Stains on the walls, the furniture was old with missing paint and dings. Lightbulbs were burned out. My son's room still had poop in the toilet from the last tenant. The location was really great though. Just a short walk to the casinos and Ampitheater. So if you just need a bed it's ok, but don't expect too much.

What’s good about this hotel, very little with the exception of two big things it’s close to things to do in South Lake (Casinos and Heavenly Village shops & dining) and it’s fairly affordable. It’s hot in the summer as the very small window unit can’t keep up well to cool the room, things are old (showers are tiny), obviously lower income bracket travelers, thin walls, small parking lot that is full at night.

The pictures of the room and the pool on web site don't match the actual hotel. The pool is in disrepair, with crumbling tile. Our room had a moldy atmosphere. Wires were running across the walls. The bathroom was serviceable, but old and out dated. I really would not mind if I knew what I was getting into. But the photos do not reflect reality. They are false advertising. Finally, the walls were very thin and we could hear everything and had to knock on the wall late at night so that the conversation could be dialed down, especially since we came with three children who needed to sleep. On the positive side, I asked for an extra pillow and the staff quickly found a new one without hesitation. Also, the location is perfect - the hotel is across the street from Heavenly.

Our family had a wonderful stay at Big Pines! The room was clean, no complaints for the affordable price. There is also free parking. Shout out to the front desk, Puna, shes very welcoming and helpful. She gave us vouchers to enter the private beach. The hotel location is very convenient, walking distance to the shops, restaurants and the beach. Would stay here again!!
