We stayed in the loft which was situated in a separate building up two flights of very steep narrow stairs.There was a great view from the lounge area over the canal.The bathroom was cold and there are no heaters there. Staff were excellent and very helpful.We did not have the breakfast as we had our own kitchen. The dining area is very smart shame they no longer operate their restaurant. All in all a great location in a fascinating city.

My daughter and I have just returned from a 3 night break here. The hotel is lovely, the property itself is beautiful, the location is perfect next to the canal, an easy walk from the station and in a quiet part of Leiden but within 5 mins of the centre. Our room on the second floor was stunning, very cosy. The best part of the stay was the staff, always polite, attentive and knowledgeable. Their English was great and they went the extra mile keeping us stocked up with English breakfast tea !

A very nice hotel with a service and friendlyness that stands out. Breakfast is combined buffé and ala carte wich works well. The room could be slightly cleaner but it was still within limits for a great stay. They dont clean and resupplye coffee/tea every day without you letting them know its needed. This is the only thing i can come up with that could elevate the stay further. Location is excellent, central but just outside so you can have a nice quiet sleep without noise from restaurants etc.

Some rooms not in hotel

This review is only for the ‘loft’ room. The hotel looks to be really charming, but I wouldn’t know because the loft is in an entirely different building, that is a bit short on charm. Room is big, bed linens are great. But furniture is a mix of pieces of mediocre style and condition. Bathroom is clean but not beautiful.

We were given a room that had nothing to do with the pictures in the app, really really small and dark, we rarely stayed in such bad rooms. Too bad as the receptionist was a very knowledgeable and nice man and even offered us welcome drinks...but in the end is about the room and this one was really bad (I think it was room 10 maybe), outside the room also like an overgrown garden. It was quite odd with the payment, didn't worked and took a while. Sorry to leave this review, I rarely do...but that room has nothing to do with a 4 star hotel.
