New hotel with still come flaws to iron out.
When I was there, this hotel has only been operating for 3 weeks. I was upgraded to the Verdant Calm Room (I think, I wasn't told, but the room looks like it. Showed how raw the staff are to not have told me this.) The rooms are very new and clean as a result. The design of the rooms and building is tastefully done with Vietnamese characteristics. I love how each room feels like a building on it's own; spacious with its own little garden. However after using it for 3 days, I found that some of the spaces can be better considered. E.g. the bathroom is too small, you can't bathe without getting your clothes and towel wet. I have to leave everything outside and get to them in the cold after bathing. For a big room, there's no where to hang your towels and clothes etc. The towels are shedding as well; my face, body and room are covered with lint every time i used the towel. As mentioned by many guests before me, it will really be great if they provide curtain for the outdoor Jacuzzi. There's no way to use it without getting the room wet as well, so please provide floor towel for the Jacuzzi as well. The skypool is smaller than what I was expecting and it's facing the city rather than the river. I wondered why. Guessed that maybe the new hotel (that is under construction) will covered that view eventually. That is the problem that I see for the rooms at The Myst as the views will eventually be blocked. In conclusion, it's definitely a comfortable stay but can be better.

Exceptional 10.0
Great staff and hotel
Pros: Breakfast buffet that rivals all others Attentive staff Great location Beautiful rooms Rooftop pool Safe available Cons: Fridge doesn’t cool well (both of our rooms had the same issue) Took a $10 taxi to the hotel from the airport. We were warmly greeted. They made us feel right at home by letting us relax and have complimentary drinks and snacks while they got all of our paperwork done. The room: spacious and clean. The bed was big and comfortable with plenty of pillows. They have a mini bar that is restocked daily with water, beer, soda and soy milk. Too bad that it doesn’t cool well. We can’t say it was just the one in our room since we had to be moved on our second day due to a leak and the fridge in the other room was the same. The toilet was amazing. It even sensed when you were on it turning the fan on. The shower was pretty nice too. You have the option of overhead shower head or the hand held. Water pressure and temperature were great. The ac worked well. It is only on when you’re in the room. Your key turns on the electricity. Amenities included bath robes, slippers, bathing suit (for the big tub in your balcony), iron, hair dryer, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, dental hygiene kit, and a few other extras. The pool: the roof top pool was pretty nice. They had lawn chairs and two in pool cabanas. Those were pretty cool, but fill up fast. They have happy hour buy one get one free. Not bad if you’re getting a cocktail.

Poor 2.0
I am a business traveler and stayed at this hotel two times (about 10 days total) in 2018. Unfortunately, I had an extremely bad stay at this hotel last time and will never stay here again.   Specifically, on a Friday, I ate at only one place—at this hotel’s restaurant on the 12th floor—and I got severe food poisoning. Because I ate at only one place, I know I got the food poisoning from this restaurant. Within about an hour of eating lunch there, my stomach started hurting and a few hours later, I threw up twice during a conference where I went to give an important business presentation. Although I don’t embarrass easily, my throwing up on the marble floor in front of the conference staff and business guests seemed to make them uncomfortable.    When I was checking out of this hotel the next morning, I explained to the receptionist what had happened. The receptionist then went into the room marked “Back Office” and came back and said the manager said the hotel would pay for my taxi to the airport. When I said I didn’t need a ride to the airport, the receptionist went back into the “Back Office” and said he had been instructed to remove VND109.725 (less than US$5) from my five-day invoice of about US$1,000 (a reduction of about 0.5%). In other words, I had paid US$10 for the lunch, and despite having poisoned me, they still wanted me to pay US$5 for that pleasure.   They made no attempt to determine the cause of the food poisoning or to try to prevent it. Unacceptable.

I fell in love with this hotel when I first saw it on line. Then I found out that my favorite part of the room which is the bathtub/jacuzzi is built outside the balcony and will be seen by the people of the next door building, I almost canceled my reservation. But the hotel manager tried to accommodate me a room with more discreet balcony which is acceptable. The hotel is centrally located, near everything, near riverside too. It has a nice outdoor cafe on the terrace. Nice, spacious entrance n lobby. Room is as nice as in pictures, clean n comfortable. I like the spacious jacuzzi and green plants, foliage in the balcony, just wish it is more discreet. Also, I have to point out another unusual layout of the room. The bathtub/jacuzzi is in one area, the shower area is another room, the sink is in the bedroom, n the toilet is in another small room which might be uncomfortable for some large guests. And I don't know what is the wooden decor next to the bed for which I banged into it twice when I got up at night! Also, the hotel had a short black out in the morning, I had to climb from 5th floor to 12th floor to have breakfast. I read previous reviews, they had these blackouts often too.The breakfast is above average. Here comes my favorite part of the hotel, I love the rooftop pool which has nice setting, view and atmosphere. Love those two beds with white veil on top of water. The pool is narrow but long. I have to give the hotel one extra star for because of the pool area.

Middling Experience
The Myst Dong Khoi was our sixth hotel after a couple of weeks in SE Asia. We had been everywhere from a small airport hotel in HCMC to a 5 star resort in DaNang by this point in the trip and we were super excited by this cute looking boutique hotel. And I have to say that, on the surface, it really is nice. I think that they have a great art collection and the layout and décor of the rooms is pretty cute with details like lamps and clocks made from old crockery. However, once you scratch beneath the surface, the charm wears thin. The toilet had to be flushed twice every time. Our shower never got more than tepid. The cabinet that the towels were stored in kept getting wood stain on the towels. And there is a massive Hilton property construction project going on at the moment - starting early and running late (one day from 7am until after 1am at least). The hotel cannot prevent the construction but they could have at least mentioned it to us before checking us in. Offered ear plugs - made some kind of concession for the massive disruption that it is. But not a word. We went up to the pool our first morning and they asked us to sit in chairs to the side because they were apparently doing some kind of work on the pool. There were just lots of little things wrong with the property that, when added up, diminished the entire stay. Aside from that, the staff was pretty good. At least some were. They arranged a tour and a massage in the hotel spa.
