I absolutely loved this unique island. I especially loved the sound of the waves at night; it was the best island experience for someone living in the city like me. Waking up in the morning to the sunrise was breathtaking. The staff were incredibly welcoming and friendly, and the food was plentiful and varied. I'd definitely come back and stay three nights next time.

Warm welcome by the staff. Well-organized orientation for all new guests to clarify the unique aspects of the resort. My waterfront bure was an absolute dream: spacious and lovely. Plus, getting to stretch out on its personalized loungers at the water's edge was sublime. Dive center was friendly and supportive with a wonderfully educational marine biology emphasis. Reef and coral right out front were spectacular. All resort staff members were so friendly and easy-going. I would absolutely return, in a heartbeat.

The resort is amazing, not only is the property beautiful and stunning but when you arrive you truly feel welcomed. But once you leave it’s a bittersweet goodbye. The staff really make your stay a home. The dive team at the dive shop are amazing and each and every single one are beyond special. Semi made my first dive experience memorable with the rest of the team.

Have to say I was disappointed. This is a beautiful island and it’s well groomed but food was terrible with no other options other their buffet. Traveled with my kid and she hardly ate for a week. Coffee was really bad also. I think for the price you pay here you should definitely get better service and quality. I’ve been to other places on the same price range and I was much better. Also pool was very lame and from the pictures it looks like real nice but it’s tiny more like a soaking bath. It’s not a bad place because it’s very beautiful but there is a lot of room for improvement and it’s really hard to stay in a place with bad food with no other options

Loved the staff! They are very caring and make you feel like family :) the marine biologist is super charismatic and passionate about the marine life, and the man that led me for the scuba diving with sharks was so chill and kind as well. Would definitely recommend if looking for an adventure!

nice stay at Barefoot Kuata

Stayed in a beachfront bure at Barefoot Kuata, and it was fantastic - very comfortable (super comfy bed), amazing outdoor bathroom, very clean, great airflow, and right on the beautiful beach. The staff were friendly and I was able to do the shark snorkel, which was good. Unfortunately I wasn't able to do the shark dive as it was booked up and there was only one day where it would have been possible for me, if it's something you're interested in I recommend booking it as soon as you're able- I heard it was incredible. Over my stay was great - the island is stunning, staff is friendly, and food was good (one night was a buffet, one night was a la carte). Snorkelling off the beach was great too, you have to go out a little ways but then it's very good. Reef sharks can be found there too. I'm really happy I went with the beach front bure, it was ideal!

-Seaside bures were so lovely and cool even though no ac or wifi, the outdoor shower was beautiful -The staff are incredibly friendly and have made us want to come back just for kuata -The food was great with mostly buffet style. Not many options if you have diet restrictions though or allergies. -The dive team was super professional and did such a good job to help us all do a shark dive, we are super thankful. -I had a bad experience at the spa so I wouldn’t recommend it. -The Fiji night, signing dancing were all apart of giving us such a great experience. -The dining outside for dinner is super cute and romantic although no options if it rains. Highly recommend.

I really wish I could rate this higher, because it is a cool place.The island itself is beautiful, and the people are very kind and welcoming. The scuba diving was really great, and the bull shark dive was mind-blowing. I actually liked my beachfront bure, but the bathroom flooded every time it rained. But it was right on the beach and very comfortable. There are some cool hikes around the island that you should definitely try, and do the cultural cave tour. Really the only bad things were that the food was pretty questionable and kept me a little bit sick the whole time. Maybe it was the water. Maybe it was something else, I don’t know. Felt like the food. It really just wasn’t very appetizing either. The restaurant itself is really cool and the live meal music is great. Wi-Fi was solid in the main part of the resort, but didn’t work in the room, which I was expecting. They really need to install some path lights on the far end of the resort, because it’s really dark at night. Made it through fine with my phone light. Overall, it was a good experience. I wouldn’t go back, but I don’t really regret it either.

We had a difficult stay at Barefoot Kuata however there were some aspects that were very enjoyable. The diving offered at the resort is fantastic and we spent an excellent morning doing the introductory shark dive. The diving staff were very friendly and competent and undoubtedly the highlight of the trip. The first room we stayed at (Garden Bure) fell well below expectation. The bathroom had not been cleaned properly and the entire room carried a strong smell of urine. The staff suggested this was because of the air freshener they use, but we were very skeptical of this and asked for a different room. We were given an ocean front bure and straight away could tell the air freshener was not the problem as the smell was absent. Unfortunately, this was the highlight of this second room. A big issue for us was there were some openings for lizards to enter into the bedroom and the outdoor shower / bathroom area felt very exposed. The pillows and the bed smelled musty and damp and in addition, the sunlounger just outside the bure also looked like it had a mould on it. All in all we felt the staff were great and tried to help us however the quality of the rooms made this a very underwhelming stay.

⚠️ WARNING: Skip This $700 AUD/Night "College Summer Camp"! This is the most honest review you'll get. If you want a romantic or family trip, DO NOT COME HERE. Couples and family I met agreed this place doesn't deserve to be called a "resort." Rai Ki Waya Bure: Photos lie. Poorly maintained outdoor bathroom with an unusable, rusted bathtub overrun by ants. Plus, hot water is restricted to certain hours! False Advertising (Wi-Fi & Signal): Hotels.com claims Wi-Fi is in all rooms—a complete lie. It’s only near the office/dining area. With zero island phone signal (Digicel), if you have work or school, stay away. (Note: Hotels.com gives credit compensation for this false ad, so reach out to them.) Sneaky $168 FJD/Night Meal Plan ($56/meal): The resort knows their nightly rate is not reasonable upfront. Worst food quality of my life. Breakfast is water, one repetitive juice, DIY powder coffee, and zero fresh fruit (even cheap motels offer a banana). Lunch is the same minus juice; dinner is a below-average course. (A $25 village homestay meal was fresher than this!) Beach & Facilities: Beach corals are dead from docked boats; you must swim 160m out while dodging the boats to see anything. The pool is hot-tub-sized and unswimable. The Only Good Part: The view is genuinely pretty. Verdict: Imagine a college orientation at a summer camp—that's this place. Solo/dorm travelers can go ahead, but families and couples, PLEASE save your money.
