Poor 2.0
I'd first like to say that I never leave reviews anywhere I go because I do not bother to take the time. In this case, I feel it is very important for people to know how poor the service was at this hotel. I was very disappointed the moment we arrived. It was to celebrate my getting married. We waited inline to be assisted by an unfriendly woman who exclaimed she was leaving soon because her shift was "almost over." She exclaimed that my reservation had changed from one room with two queens, to two separate rooms on with a double each. She also informed us that only one room was ready at the time. This was of course very disappointing given our group did want to be split up. We went up to put our things in the one available room. I immediately went downstairs and asked to speak to someone else. By then the other woman had left the lobby. The second woman was kind and I explained to her what happened and how within not even twenty minutes of arriving, everything was terrible. She couldn't fix our rooms but gave us complimentary breakfast for the next morning and plastic gold coins that looked like something from the dollar store. These were a complimentary glass of proseco on the second floor bar. The bartenders were rude of course assuming they would not receive any tip for a free drink. It was an unpleasant experience to say the least. On the first night we attempted to enjoy ourself on the rooftop bar. When waiting inline to get in, the staff were very unfriendly and ha

More than hotel provide ear plugs needed to sleep!
This is our second stay at the Moxy within 60 days. This time we had our 11 year old granddaughter with us. The biggest problem is the noise from the club at the top of the hotel. The hotel provides guests with ear plugs but actually you need noise cancellation headphones. The music goes on until 2 or 3 a.m. Our first stay we were on the 9th floor but on the street side and the noise was not as bad. This time we were on the 3rd floor on the inside court side. Very loud! This particular room, a two double bedroom needs some small fixes. First the bathroom door is translucent so you can see from the bedroom the person sitting on the toilet. Fix: a solid door! The Heat / AC vent is by the head of one bed and blows directly on your head. Fix: Some type of deflector! The bathroom is very large with a great shower. The towel rack is over the toilet. Fix: Move the towel rack and add a second towel rack to the large empty wall in the bathroom,so the towels are not hanging in the toilet. There is one small trash can that has a recycling and trash side. This is Marriott's attempt to try to be ecofriendly. Fix: There is adequate space for separate large trash and recycling cans. We got stuck twice on our second night on an elevator (the same elevator). It started to open and stopped. We pushed the alarm and after a few minutes it reset and took us to the floor above ours. We reported it each time to the front desk staff and they made it like we did something wrong.

Good 6.0
Nice hotel, service leaves a lot to be desired.
Cool hotel with great decor and clean rooms however our stay was not a smooth one. Arrived to find the room we booked was not available and offered two separate rooms instead. As we were travelling with family (two young children) this was not suitable as the rooms weren’t even next to each other so the children had to sleep on bean bags(!) on our floor. We were told that the next day there would be one available so had to pack our stuff up in the morning and take down to the luggage room. We double checked again as leaving that there would be a room available and gave back our keys. On returning to the hotel that evening we found there wasn’t infact a room available and despite giving back our key cards were still in the one bed room. The only alternative was a room with 4 bunk beds!! This hotel was booked as a treat for me being 7 months pregnant and as a birthday present so to be offered bunk beds really was not the experience we were looking for. After some discussion the hotel did offer to refund our fist night but we were only in the city for two nights and had lost a good few hours sorting out hotels rooms that should have been booked and sorted. As a special trip it was really very disappointing and time that we won’t get back. The fact that also we had to ask for any help with bags twice (even coming through the door no one helped and just stared at us struggling despite me being pregnant) really put me off. Maybe being trendy means that Service is not required!

Good hotel in midtown Manhattan
The room was too dark, it needs better lightning. We would have liked a table/desk and chair in the room. Plumbing when neighbour was bathing was shrieking very loud, I measured it to be 68 db and it woke us up early every morning and also at night when the neighbour was coming home from a night in town. The central air extraction was noisy all the time, we got used to it after a couple of nights. Room has a good sizeable bathroom. Great wifi Not much place for suitcases in the room and there is no closet in room, only hooks. The room has very good beds. Good trendy bar. Good location for a midtown area stay. The $5 charge for water is way too much, at least it should be noted in the roomdokuments that $5 will be charged for each water, it was just a coincidence that we saw the small $5 in the corner of the water carton after a few days, we thought it was complimentary. Complimentary coffee closes 10am, but the days I where at the bar for coffee around 9.45am there were no more coffee and none was made before 10am, 1 day of my stay the whole area was cleaned and removed 9.45am, either it delivers coffee until 10am or you should write that last serving is 9.30am and until the coffeepot is empty. It should be clear when booking that the magic hour is a no go for everyone below 21, my children was disappointed that they could not go there looking at the view and get a soda and a snack. Reception staff was great. Overall a very good and pleasant stay.
Jan, ie8 night family trip
Fair 4.0
I had previously visited a friend in her room at the Moxy and impressed, decided to give it a go for my next trip. But this place is more style than substance. Reception staff are friendly enough but if you're expecting personal attention, you'll be hard pushed. This place is hands off (drop your laundry at Reception!). I stayed in January and my room was freezing. Someone came to fix the AC, but I could still only pump the heat up to max 74F/23C and it was impossible to sleep with it on because it was so noisy. As with the rest of the hotel, the room has that hipster look. I was supposed to have a desk and instead there was a table hanging on the wall- using this and the chair provided for working would have been comfortable for about an hour. No iron or board, just a steamer. Bed is comfortable but again cold in winter with the duvet provided. Rooftop bar serves drinks in plastic glasses! Downstairs bar is nice for a nightcap. Daily maid service consists of bed being made, sink being wiped over and bin being emptied. I stayed for 6 nights and I don't believe my floor was swept or mopped once, evident by the trails of dust and hair clinging to my socks. I felt the stay was average and then when checking out at 5am, had the pleasure of hearing the security guard talk brag loudly to the reception staff about all the "women" he was going to b***. I don't think this is acceptable at any time of day. Safe to say I will try somewhere else next time I am in NY!
