Thank you for making it happen

Amazing staff , so helpful and accommodating to my request to make my dad’s 80th birthday trip a success . Waking up with a sea view was a lovely . Amazing village and friendly locals .

6/10 Good

The staff were welcoming and allowed us to check-in early. Unfortunately, the bar and restaurant were closed and only breakfast available, which was very disappointing. The rooms were decorated and cleaned to a good standard, although we both found the mattress too firm.

6/10 Good

Brilliant location but the bed was so uncomfortable, you could feel every spring in the bed . Appreciate the location means some noise , but there was a coach parked outside from just gone 6am that had its engine running for the majority of the first hour it was there picking up guests and yet didn’t depart til gone 7.30 by which time we were too awake to stay in bed any longer .

Perfect location view from our room

Perfect location. Good customer service, but needs improvement on the AC or having a fan in the room as it was really hot. Overall decent hotel and would give it a 4 star. There were room with a perfect many stairs to find our room bit of a maze but good fun getting lost lol.

Tragic

We ordered a superior sea facing room. It was definitely sea facing, but no way was it superior. Small bed, filthy window sills and someone's dirty pants on the floor. Breakfast was plentiful but like school dinners. I suppose if you get a cheal hotel in St Mawes you get what you pay for!
Teresa, 1-night trip

10/10 Exceptional

Easy check-in.

The staff were very helpful when it transpired I'd booked for the wrong night! They found me another room with no trouble at all, still with a sea view and I had a very comfortable and easy stay.

Great location, dated hotel

Great location, close to car park, beautiful area. Room was slightly dirty, hotel was dated, very noisy until 11:30pm due to pub being close to window, paper thin walls, Very small room. Wouldn't return.

To be avoided!

80£ for a night; terribly dirty carpet, room felt like a storage room, almost no shower running water, spider net hanging down the roof, dirty kettle. Paid 26£ extra for breakfast for two - medium variety with no cheese and ham. Staff distant and moody. Worst stay ever!

The staff were fantastic, so helpful and friendly. They were great with my husband's gluten free diet. They are making the best of a lovely, old premises

8/10 Very good

We stayed for our Wedding Anniversary, and the hotel was nice, it is very dated but the atmosphere and people there where lovely. The room was nice and comfortable and the the view from our balcony was nice. We only stayed for one night and it was a nice experience. We had the breakfast the next day and that was worth the money and very filling.

It was ok. Nothing special. Good breakfast even though the staff in the restaurant didn’t know we were there?
Dave, 1-night trip

8/10 Very good

Would have liked to sit at breakfast table a while before ordering breakfast little bit rushed.
caron, 1-night trip

8/10 Very good

Long, confusing walk to & from my room. Average meal, mainly catering for older customers (smaller portions). Noisy ferry (honking horns every 5 minutes or so until around 9pm, asked at reception what the noise was)

a pleasant 2 day stay with our dog

Enjoyed our stay here in dog friendly room at the Ship and Castle. Friendly staff and good choice of food. Good location right on the harbour

Disappointment

I was not aware that this was a coach trip destination. My room (122) was more than a trek from reception, the odd layout of stairwells and doors to traverse, got me lost a couple of times. The landings smelt damp. The bathroom really was not pleasant, needed replacing. The lady running breakfast was verging on rude, instead of policing the door to the restaurant, not allowing anyone in until 8am sharp, she could have let myself and the coachload of people stood behind me, blocking the corridor, at least get seated. I missed to get the name of the nice chap running the bar on Monday evening, but I would like to pass on that he was welcoming, friendly and inclusive.
