"The pool and the location of Porto Salvo were the highlights. It is walking distance to Sorrento but much quieter and calmer.
We were dissapointed in the AC, it barely worked and couldn't cool off the room. The room was also much smaller than pictured.
If you do stay we cannot reccomend highly enough renting a vespa from the gentleman who works at the hotel. He had by far the best prices and the vespa was excellent. He was very helpful and great to deal with. "

Employee who helped carry our luggage is a wonderful person! He was so attentive and very kind. He is the number one reason we would return to this hotel. Carlo number one!
But it's important to note- this property is not for the weak. 80 plus steps just to get to the lobby. We were there for several nights. The most incredible part of this place is opening the balcony doors of our room and seeing the ocean shimmer every day. The cool breeze at night was a bonus. The breakfast buffet was delicious and as we were traveling with our 3 kids, it allowed us to fuel up with ease before a long day of adventure. "

We have been in Italy for 1 month and my kids still talk about the amazing breakfast (italian style) and was the best cappuccino I had. The walk is long to the beach but thats to be expected in the geographic location. And they have parking which is great cause its impossible to find parking on the Amalfi coast. Definitely will go back to this hotel when i return to Amalfi"

The only thing that I was not happy at all was one of the front desk employees. Getting to Sorrento takes you a few hours specially when coming from Milan. When we got there it was around 1:30pm. We know check in it’s not supposed to be until 3pm but in all the hotels I’ve been around the world sometimes the rooms are ready before that time. The front desk lady was rude to us and said to wait outside because the room was not ready yet. If she had said it to us in a different way we would totally understand but she didn’t have manners.
Right after the front desk shift, there was another couple right next to us who had the same situation with this lady, and at 2:15 they went and ask the next shift in lobby and they gave us our rooms.
I had so say this. However, I was very happy with the hotel and the cleanliness. Breakfast service was very good and overall I would definitely stay here next time I come to Sorrento "

The rooftop bar was always empty with such a great view of the water! My husband used the gym once and both pools were great too. "I cannot more enthusiastically recommend Gran Hotel Royal. We had bay view rooms which were amazing, especially at night with the balconies. The breakfast buffet was outstanding and service impeccable. My son sprained his ankle prior to our stay and they had crutches available as well as further recommendations for medical care. If we are ever back in Sorrento we would stay at the Grand Hotel Royal without hesitation."
