We had a wonderful stay. The room was perfect and loved wandering through the gardens and nearby walks despite the weather. Cosy evening by the fireplace, red wine and board games. The Christmas decorations were tasteful and festive. Fantastic team of staff and look forward to returning.

A beautiful hotel in a lovely setting with the sound of the river when you sat on the terrace. The staff were exceptional and always ready to help with any request. The room was very comfortable, lovely big bed and superb bathroom.

Gorgeous setting and lovely hotel. Very quiet when we were there which in many ways was excellent but at times it felt too quiet. The food was absolutely amazing and everything we ate was wonderful from afternoon tea to dinner to breakfast,

One of the best meals I’ve had in my life, well above one-star quality. Gidleigh is a beautiful setting, a stay there is always restorative.

Such a charming, magical place!

We had the most magical stay and really got away from it all. In our 10km walk from the hotel we saw two standing stone circles.

Relaxing in comfort.

A beautiful hotel set in lovely gardens on the edge of Dartmoor National Park. Friendly, attentive and helpful staff. Very good standard of food. The classic room we stayed in was spacious, comfortable and very clean. Perfect for a relaxing break once you have negotiated the 1.5 mile single track road to the hotel!

Our stay at Gidleigh Park was extraordinary. I had never experienced the level of service offered or the professionalism of the staff. We felt welcomed and cared for as individuals. The meals were outstanding. I’m so glad I chose to stay there for part of our trip to England’s southwest, but every place after was a bit of a let down.

Magnificent, slightly remote hotel.

Lovely place in a quite remote location. Final approach is 2 miles of very narrow twisting road. Once arrived the welcome is second to none and service is first rate. Beautiful hotel with magnificent views provided you have a room situated in the front overlooking the gardens and river. Sadly the weather was quite wet but still managed to do some walking around the extensive grounds between heavy showers. Breakfast was very good and dinner excellent with limited but interesting choices and many additional extras. We recommend this hotel very highly.

Gorgeous Gidleigh

The most beautiful hotel in the most idyllic Devon setting. We stayed on a wet and dreary February evening and we didn't even care about the weather. We played tennis in the beautiful gardens in advance of our outstanding 10 course tasting menu dinner with paired wines by Michael Wignall. The sommelier kindly typed out the wine pairings for us at our request. The wine pairings are not mentioned on the menu but for the complexity of the courses, I would recommend you opt for the wine pairing with the tasting menu. The food, the staff, the hotel was all in all, so accommodating, extremely luxurious but they went to great lengths to make it feel like it was your own house. The bedroom was divine, even the little touches in the bathroom, unobtrusive low lighting so that you could navigate to the bathroom without disturbing your partner. The complimentary Madeira was a lovely idea and the Pantry with Emma Bridgewater crockery – quintessentially English. The diffusers around the hotel maintained a consistent air of tranquility - this was definitely a place where relaxation is paramount. We were so reluctant to leave as we felt truly at home and so welcome. The setting was intimate and we often spent time in the company of the other guests who dined at the same times as us. Frederico the General Manager was present most of the time as was the F&B manager, the staff seemed to delight in being at your beck and call 24/7. Truly a magical experience and we cannot wait to return.

8/10 Very good

It had rained heavily during the day and the river outside was very noisy, which was loud in our room overnight.
