The room was super cute, and the bed was very comfortable (which means a lot since I'm very picky). Loved that they offered valet parking for $40 a night. It was within walking distance of everything; wish we stayed longer!

Great B&B in the heart of Portsmouth! Beyond quaint, with an amazing Japanese restaurant onsite and walking distance to every major attraction downtown and near the water.

8/10 Very good

The room allowed for plenty of space to move around freely, it was actually as big as a small efficiency unit with a small kitchen area. I would’ve given it 5 stars all the way around, however the wall ac unit wouldn’t operate at all and the bathroom warming floors were not working either.

Unique mod vibe with desert colors, decorated with beautiful local and other art, nice amenities bar. The restaurant smelled delicious and ambient music was tasteful. Room was emasculate very comfortable. So comfortable we overslept and I got a parking ticket by forgetting to run down the street and pay the meter (100% my fault NOT the hotel)

The staff were wonderful: they cheerfully accommodated our wish to access our room early. Everyone was kind and helpful. The rooms were spotless, the bed extremely comfortable. The location is perfect: the Thaxter is in the heart of the old port city and you are surrounded by beautiful historic buildings, good restaurants and interesting shops. We will gladly stay there again.
