Great location
Really love this hotel. Staff is extremely pleasant and helpful. Location is where you want to be if you really want to experience Montreal. Hotel website provides all sorts of idea where to eat and shop. Hotel has 1 restaurant with bar, but we preferred to hang out in lobby near modern fireplace. It was the best place to be after cold strolls in the street. Will definitely stay here again.

Nice hotel, uncomfortable mattress.
The hotel is in a great location, easy walk through Old Montreal. Our room was clean and spacious. The bed had nice linens, but the mattress was uncomfortable. The hotel staff were nice and helpful but it was common to return to the hotel in the evening and see no staff at all. A greater presence of staff would have been nice.

Great boutique hotel in old Montreal
Came in early in the morning off a cruise. They got us into a room right away ... unexpected but really nice. Local area in old Montreal is great. Lots of boutique redtaurants and shops. Loved it

Impractical interior design
Great location, attractively renovated large rooms, comfortable and quiet. However, someone paying for the interior design should have restrained the designer. The overhead light near the desk/vanity shines its light behind the head of the person sitting at the desk. In addition, there is almost no storage for clothes and none for suitcases; the response from an employee was that it wouldn’t fit in with the overall design scheme.

Very nice hotel, great location, minor issues only
The St. Paul is in a great location in Montreal and our stay was generally very good. The only downsides of the hotel were minor. There is no sundry shop in the hotel, so if you want to buy something, you're stuck paying for the in-room bar, which is very expensive. Also, I'm not sure if this is true for all rooms, but our room's high windows (probably 8 feet tall) had large wooden shutters with numerous slats, instead of curtains. As a result, as soon as the sun came up, the room was completely bright and there was no way to darken it. Not a huge deal, but it did wake us every morning at about 6:15 a.m. and made it essentially impossible to get back to sleep. Otherwise, the hotel was very good.
