Unwelcoming start with the happy end
It started on a sour note. When we arrived to check-in we were told that due to "something" (probably double booking) there is no room for us and we need to stay at another hotel for one night, then to check in back to Alexandra. The clerk was quite unpleasant. No apologies for this inconvenience. He claimed that he emailed us which apparently was a lie as we have never received any emails regarding hotel unavailability. I asked if the substitute hotel is comparable, he assured us that its even better (4 stars). We don't know how that hotel got 4 stars, it seemed like no more than 2. The hotel name was Hotel Sistina- shabby, outdated, run down furniture, dirty carpets, with very mediocre breakfast. Very unpleasant experience. But...when we came back to Alexandra the next day we were upgraded to the room with the terrace, with the view of Rome to die for. Starting from there everything was great: attentive stuff (luckily we didn't deal with that unpleasant grumpy clerk), great room, nice breakfast. The location is great. We would definitely recommend hotel Alexandra, but please stay away from their "better" substitute Hotel Sistina.

Good location, helpful staff.
We had a room with 2 twin beds. The room was narrow, but otherwise comfortable. Bathroom was upgraded. The hotel is a little old. There is a small elevator, but you must carry your bag up the stairs to get into the hotel and also up or down half a flight of stairs to get to your room. The staff at the front desk was fairly helpful and friendly. The location is good, right next to Barberini subway station, but the station is closed. About a 10 minute walk to Spagna station at the Spanish steps. Location is pretty good for Rome. Not allowed to bring food into the room. Stayed in October 2019, so did not need to use the AC. It seemed to be turned off. Not sure if it was working. The room cooled off fine with the window opened, but the street was a little noisy from traffic.

Good value - great staff
Well located - a little out of the way from the tourist crowds. Older hotel with very helpful staff. Would definitely stay here again.

Nice hotel centrally located
Very good location. Easy walks to popular sights. I picked it since it was close to the. Barberini subway stop but unfortunately it had been closed for repairs for months. Room was small but clean. Very friendly employees. Breakfast was very nice. We would stay again.
